AboutDr. ChengelisWith over 24 years of experience, Dr. David Chengelis, president and founder of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery P.C. in Troy, Michigan, is a leading laparoscopic and robotic surgeon practicing at Beaumont Health serving residents in and around the Detroit area. He is board-certified in surgery. Dr. Chengelis focuses on performing advanced, minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures to address gallbladder issues, hernias, and gastrointestinal reflux. He also offers bariatric surgeries such as gastric sleeve and RNY GASTRIC bypass and revision procedures to aid in weight loss.Dr. Chengelis completed his bachelors degree at the University of Cincinnati, graduating summa cum laude, before earning his medical degree at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He served his residency in internal medicine at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis and his surgical residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He also completes at least 50 hours of continued medical education each year to ensure he stays up-to-day with advances in surgical and medical technology.Dr. Chengelis is a member of several medical organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and recently servedas the president of the Michigan Bariatric Society.
