Morinaga Nutritional Foods began marketing aseptically packaged silken-style tofu in the United States under the Mori-Nu brand name in 1985. Mori-Nu's original product line consisted of Mori-Nu Silken Tofu in soft, firm and extra-firm varieties for use in shakes and cream pies, sauces, soups, dips and main dishes. The company also markets tofu products under the Mori-Nu Silken Lite, Mori-Nu Mates Pudding and Pie Mix and Mori-Nu Silken Tofu Made with Organic Soybeans brands. Morinaga Nutritional Foods helped to develop the packaging process that seal in the nutrition of tofu in an airtight, shelf-stable package and makes it impervious to light, oxygen and microorganisms without preservatives or irradiation. Pacific Nutritional Food, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, manufactures and distributes aseptic tofu throughout the U.S. under the Mori-Nu brand name. Morinaga Nutritional Foods is headquartered in Torrance, Calif.
