General Info
Stormont-Vail HealthCare has been caring for generations of northeast Kansans for more than 125 years. The integrated health care organization has reached many milestones during its century and a quarter of history and it has translated to excellence in health care for the community. Little did our founders know what they were creating in 1884 when Christ's Hospital was started on the very ground where Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center is located today. A merger in 1949 with Jane C. Stormont Hospital and Training School for Nurses - which has roots back to 1895 - was critical for the future of both organizations. Another pivotal merger came more than 50 years later when Stormont-Vail and Cotton-O’Neil Clinic merged in 1995, creating the foundation for the development of an integrated health care system. Since then specialty clinics for pediatric care, as well as diagnosis and treatment centers for heart, cancer, diabetes, wound care and other specialties, have been created. Stormont-Vail is known for its network of health care providers, primary and specialty clinics, a 586-bed acute care hospital and services, and a comprehensive electronic medical record. The organization cares for both inpatients and outpatients, from a specialized level of infant care to a variety of older adult services. It has an extensive reach into northeast Kansas through its physicians and clinics. It is poised today and in the future to care for generations. Our VISION is to: Provide safe and high quality health care. Be the healthcare provider of choice in northeast Kansas. Be the healthcare employer of choice in northeast Kansas. Mission "Working together to improve the health of our community." Values Service to Others: We meet or exceed the needs and expectations of those we serve. Quality: We create an environment of trust, comfort and confidence brought about by a competent, compassionate and caring staff. Teamwork: We do together what cannot be done alone. Respect: We honor the dignity and creative potential of each staff member. Viability: We assure our mission by remaining profitable.
