- Primary CareRené is a medical practitioner with extensive experience in private and public healthcare. She started her career in primary healthcare, established a geriatric private primary care practice and worked in emergency medicine, including at an academic trauma unit, for several years. She joined Mediclinic in 2006 and held the positions of Regional Clinical Manager, and Clinical Data and Information Manager for our operations in Southern Africa. Subsequently, she served as the Group General Manager: Clinical Performance. She was appointed Group Chief Clinical Officer with effect from 1 July 2018.

- Mental HealthAt 31 March 2023, Mediclinic comprised 74 hospitals, five subacute hospitals, three mental health facilities, 21 day case clinics and 24 outpatient clinics. The Swiss operations included 17 hospitals and five day case clinics with around 1 900 inpatient beds; Southern African operations included 50 hospitals (three of which in Namibia), five subacute hospitals, three mental health facilities and 14 day case clinics (four of which operated by Intercare) across South Africa, and around 8 750 inpatient beds; and the Middle East operated seven hospitals, two day case clinics and 24 outpatient clinics with around 1 000 inpatient beds in the UAE. In addition, the Group will open a 200-bed hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2023 under management contract.
