In my opinion Schorlings is the best meat market in the greater Toledo area. We drive from Oregon to shop for their steaks.

My mother and I have been shopping at this store for over 30 years. As a kid growing up in nearby Old Orchard, I would frequently ride my bike up to Schorling's to grab a thing or two for my folks. As an adult living away from Toledo, I would look forward to trips to Schorlings whenever I was back in Toledo.

I've recently moved back to Toledo and today I had an experience (with my mother, on Mother's Day, no less) that made me swear I would never shop at Schorlings again (neither will my mom).

We went to the store for a few things and upon checkout there was some question about one of our items being on sale (canned tuna). The clerks agreed that what we wanted to purchase was indeed pictured in the ad. They double-checked with the owner/manager, and he insisted that the tuna was NOT on sale. He also commented that all of our purchases were sale items, and that he was losing money on us. He said that he wanted us to be happy, so when I asked him if he would give us the 6 cans of tuna for $1 each (as pictured/advertised), he said no. I said that's what would make me happy. He said it was our choice to buy the tuna, but we would need to pay full price (again comments about losing money, trying to stay in business, not making money on sale items, etc).

At this point we were so appalled at the poor customer service that we said we were willing to leave all of our groceries (about $40 worth) and walk out. He said, "If that's what you want, then fine." SERIOUSLY??!! So that's what we did. We told him that we had both been shopping at his store for over 30 years and would not return. He couldn't have cared less. What's sad is that the store clerks did not seem surprised by his behavior, and apologized to us.

I would suggest avoiding this store!

DONT SHOP HERE!!!! They do not appreciate your business and will treat you like you some sort of trash. I would rather drive a few extra miles and go else where rather than shop at this place.
