My family and I visited j Maes in November 2013 from Minneapolis and we're DEFINITELY pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, the owners and staff were excellent. They treated our family very very good. We weren't sure what to expect and were not disappointed. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go back but we HIGHLY recommend if your ever in Toledo, Ohio...stop by try a tamale, sweet potato pie cheesecake and EVERYTHING ELSE!! THANKS J MAES for being the best part of our trip

My mother was up visiting from Columbus, Ohio for an extended mother/daughter weekend. Day three was a drive around downtown Toledo. We ended up in the Polish Village on LaGrange. We saw a reputable-looking customer coming out of J Maes Home Cooking as we passed the Ohio Theatre and did a u-turn and went back to J'Maes. We are glad we did. We were greeted and we told our story of girl's day out. Friendly and courteous service abound. We ordered chicken wings, green beans, mac n cheese, candied yams, sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. Food is delicious. Seasoned but not greasy or salty. Small and medium portions were appropriate to size and prices. In fact the price, quality, and value are great. Establishment is clean and a comfortable inside dining room. It's in a converted house with patio-deck for outside dining. Takeout and phone orders available. I highly recommend and we will return! It's worth the drive. I live in Sylvania off Talmedge and Monroe area near Anderson General store. Kindlya bbusiness professional and her Mother, an excellent cook too..9/22/13
