A part of the City of Thousand Oaks, the Community Development Department s Building Division protects people against hazards associated with the construction, use and occupancy of buildings and other structures. The division is responsible to oversee the compliance of construction procedures with codes designed to safeguard life, limb, health, property and public welfare. It also controls the design, location and maintenance of structures within the city s jurisdiction area. The Building Division inspects plumbing, mechanical and electrical installations. It additionally reviews plans and controls the quality of materials used for construction. The Community Development Department maintains planning and housing and redevelopment divisions.
