- Pediatric CareRobert Assantes, O.D. joined Thomasville Eye Center on November 2, 2020. Dr. Assantes graduated from Florida State University and went on to graduate from Illinois College of Optometry. He specializes in primary eye care, ocular disease, contact lenses, and primary pediatric care. Dr. Assantes resides in Tallahassee with his wife and their two children.
- Primary CareDr. Biedron, a Chicago area native, earned his degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. He completed his residency training in primary care at the Veteran’s Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Tallahassee, FL. He currently resides in Tallahassee with his wife and their golden doodle, Lukas. He enjoys the outdoors, including mountain biking, cars, and spending time with family and friends.
- GlaucomaDr. Michael Magbalon or “Dr. Mike” as he is called by many of his patients joined the Thomasville Eye Center in June of 2007. Born in the Philippines and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Mike has come to love the southwest Georgia lifestyle and particularly the community of Thomasville Georgia. After graduating with honors from Villanova University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, he decided to pursue medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Mike became interested in ophthalmology as a career and completed a residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He furthered his interests in the fields of corneal surgery and refractive surgery by completing a fellowship at the LSU Eye Center in New Orleans under the tutelage of Herb Kaufmann, M.D., a pioneer in the field of corneal transplantation. Dr. Mike thoroughly enjoyed working with residents at the LSU Eye center that he decided to stay on staff as an Assistant Professor and pursue a second fellowship in the area of glaucoma surgery and disease.
- OphthalmologyDr. Josh Newton, a native of Southwest Georgia, joined the Moultrie Eye Center in 2009 after earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completing his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology, which includes pediatrics, glaucoma, external diseases, medical retina, oculoplastics, neuro-ophthalmology, and cataract surgery. He and his wife Alex have two children and are happy to be living back in Moultrie, Georgia.
- Macular DegenerationWe are a surgical and medical eye care practice with two ophthalmologists and four optometrists with locations in Thomasville, Moultrie, and Valdosta, Georgia. Thomasville Eye Center, Moultrie Eye Center and Valdosta Eye Center offer comprehensive services including cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK), oculoplastics, as well as management of Diabetes, Glaucoma, and Macular Degeneration
- Laser Eye SurgeryOur board-certified doctors and friendly staff strive to provide high quality care using current technology and advanced training. Thomasville Surgery Center, our ambulatory surgery center, is a model of friendliness, efficiency, and convenience for our eye surgery patients. Thomasville Eye Center, Moultrie Eye Center, and Valdosta Eye Center also have a full-service optical, dispensing glasses and contacts.
- CataractsThomasville Eye Center is now using the Catalys Precision Laser System to perform many key steps of the procedure that are traditionally performed using handheld instruments. This laser precision enables our surgeons to provide patients a comfortable, gentle and highly customized cataract treatment.

- Eyelid SurgeryYour surgeon will mark and measure the amount of tissue to be removed. Your eyes and lids will then be numbed and prepped for eyelid surgery. The measured amount of tissue will be excised, and then the incision will be sewn back together. The surgery takes about 1 hour.
