- Bed BugsThe life-cycle of a bedbug is; Egg, nymph, adult. While in the nymph stage a bed bug only needs to feed about once every seven to ten days. Once they have fed they shed their skin and wait another week or so to bite again, this form of growth is called an instar. Bedbugs have five instars. Once they become full grown adults (about half the size of a pea) they will bite nearly every day in order to lay eggs, and then the cycle will start all over again. It can take a few months to become fully infested and you may not even know you have bed bugs for months after the initial invasion. Some people don't have very noticeable reactions to the bites and may be feeding the critters for some weeks before realizing what's been eating at them.
