Dr Roslyn Harris has been our family doctor since 1994. She has been a huge part of my children's health and mine. When I first met Dr. Harris, there was no doubt, that she was going to be our family doctor. Doctor Harris, has walked me through, some very scary times with my son's health. We have had major health issues, through out the years and Dr. Harris was always the one, I would listen too.

I last saw Dr. Harris on June 17, 2013. I had not seen her for a few months and before that, it had been quite a while. I noticed a change in her this last visit. I felt that she was in a rush and seemed to be very short with me. I just chalked it up to her personal problems, that she may be having.. After all, she did address my health issues.

The problem I had was not with Dr. Harris, it was with the woman at the customer service, payment window. She asked me what my co-pay was. I said that it was zero. I told her that I had met my deductible and that I should have no co-pay, at all. She told me that I had to pay something? She told me to write a check for $30. I told her no and that I did not have any money in my account. She then told me to write a check for $25 and she would hold the check, until the insurance claim came back, stating if I owed anything or not? She told me that she had to get a payment, that day. I stated again, that I had no money in my account.

Since i had been going to Dr. Harris for so long and never had this happen to me before. I wrote her a check, with the understanding, that the check would be held.

The next thing I know. I get a letter from the solicitors office, stating that I needed to pay that office $146 or be subject to arrest!! I could not believe my eyes. This was for a useless check, that was presented to Palmetto Family Medicine, by me.

This was the check, that was being held, by the customer service lady. It was submitted for collection from my account, before the insurance claim came back. Now I am out $146 and Dr. Harris office is also charging me a $30 return check fee.

I have never had a check returned before and I always pay with my debit card, after seeing Dr. Harris. The insisting of a payment by the customer service person, was wrong. Her asking for a check was strange and I did not like it then and I do not like it now.

I spoke with the office manager about this situation. She acted like it was my fault for letting a check be returned. She claimed that two letters were sent to me? I never received one letter, stating anything about my check. She was borderline rude, towards me.

I have not spoken to Dr. Harris about this yet. I am hoping that Dr. Harris will correct this situation and return my money. The $146 that I had to pay to the solicitor for a check, that never should have been written,

If she does not correct this financial theft, by her staff. ( I call it a theft, because that is how I feel.) I have had money stolen from me, by the one person,

I have trusted with my families life, since 1994. I will take her to small claims court, to get my money back. To also, receive an apology from the customer service person, for the embarrassing situation, she created. This is straight out stealing from the trusting patient. Barbara Hurley ( Emory)
