About a year ago I had the Pros at Sound Technology work on two Teac reel to reel tape recorders and they were put back in great shape in less than a week. I just returned from another trip and this time I had two Teac X series recorders needing work again. These were different machines from the first trip. One of the machines a Teac X-7 had a bad capstan motor and i provided the store with a second motor that I had purchased on eBay. Upon inspection it was determined that neither of the motors was in running order. The shop then performed a miracle by using parts from both motors to create one that worked perfectly. The Capstan Motors for these machines are currently selling North of $300 so fixing the motors I had was a miracle to me. Repairs were also done on a top of the line Teac X-2000R reel to reel tape recorder. It now plays and records as it should. Willy and his staff really know their trade. Just a great place to take vintage electronics for repair. Especially reel to reel tape recorders. Use this shop and help keep them in business. You will be working with some really smart people. I am very impressed with the the staff at Sound Technology. They can repair anything and they insure that you are happy with the performance of your equipment upon completion of repairs. They take time to demonstrate each piece of equipment to you upon completion of their work. They serviced an Empire 598 Turntable, a Fisher 500 C Receiver, Tanberg TD20 A reel-to-reel tape recorder and an Akai GX-77 reel to reel tape recorder for me. They all perform perfectly after repairs. Finding service for vintage audio equipment isn't easy in these times. They have such a broad understanding of electronics and can repair old tube equipment as well as more modern transistor equipment. They are my go-to guys for repairs to my equipment even though I have to travel over 40 miles to their shop. Customer service is second to none.

Barry Landau picks up his phone when you call, and answers all emails. Many times after hours and on the weekends, which is a tireless pursuit of customer satisfaction. The very personable approach of everyone involved (again, RESPECT TO THE TECHNICIANS), is much appreciated by those of us who obsess over our equipment. They have completely refurebushed my Pioneer SX-1010, my Fisher 500-B, and now have the Sansui 9090 on the bench. Many of us have a rather personal attachment to our equipment, and everyone there is understanding on that level. Excellent service! Honest people that have the experience to repair your electronic equipment. I took a stereo tuner/power amp that I had in storage since 2005, this is 2011, and the problem with the tuner was corrected. What impressed me was their honesty, technical abllity and they even demonstrate to you that your equipment is operational before you take it from their shop. These people have been there for years and know the business! I would give them 10 stars **********!

I have used these guys since the late 70?s. When something is not worth repair they are upfront and tell it like it is. These guys aren?t hungry for money, that?s probably why they have been around for so long.

unusual to find a company that will discourage you to repair if the cost is to excessive. This is the last of the servicers that are not "Estimates shops" they do component level if possible.
