- DenturesWhen patients don’t have adequate healthy bone to support dental implants due to gum disease, long-term denture wear, tooth defects, injury to the face and other related issues, our doctors might recommend large scale bone augmentation. In the past, this would involve taking a hip or rib bone to assist in rebuilding the edentulous ridge. This procedure would typically be performed in a hospital setting. Today, we are able to build a strong foundation for implants with much less invasive procedures such as bone block grafts and guided bone regeneration, which requires very minimal healing time. All procedures are completed in office.

- Bone GraftingDr. Rasmussen is also actively involved in clinical research. In addition to his appointment at the University of South Florida School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology, he has also worked on clinical trials with the Food and Drug Administration. Most recently, he was part of a multi-center study that resulted in the release of a new therapy for controlled release of antibiotics at the local site of infection. Currently, he is working on the development of new and more effective methods of bone grafting, in conjunction with dental implants.
