Not only the inventory;quality;and imagination-but also the personal level of attention that a customer gets from the staff. Many more aspects of the Tacoma store could be mentioned. All of these result in one fact: the Tacoma store sits apart and ABOVE the Seattle Metropolitan Market stores. Other grocery store chains are not even worth mentioning on this occassion.

Amazing Customer Service!!

Great products and amazing customer service! Today I needed to know if they had their wonderful Carrot Soup available but didn't want to drive all the way from Lakewood to find out. So I called and guess what.... they answered the phone on the second ring, were happy to help and promptly answered the question with a YES!. Did I mention they answered the phone? :)

Best in Tacoma

The best grocery store in Tacoma, without a doubt, but too expensive for us until I get a big raise. I'd love to be able to go there all the time, but for now it's just for special stuff - and the staples at Safeway.

try the deli for dinner

It's late and you have no makings for a quick dinner? Try the deli at Met Market Proctor. Chicken or pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, salads. Suddenly it tastes like you slaved over a stove all day. Delicious. And despite the usually "a little on the high side" prices - dinner for 4 was affordable.

Fun to shop, Painful to Pay

If you need swiss gruyere cheese from all white cows, this is the place to find it. They have fantastic things in a beautiful little package of a store, but you may need to take a second mortgage out to pay for it. Seriously, it is less expensive to go out to dinner at a real restaurant than to buy a dinner's worth of food at the Met. Still, it is a fun neighborhood market and a treat to visit for adults and children alike.###TIP: Definitely ask for samples. They will generally let you taste anything in the deli, produce and seafood departments. Maybe my free lunches are the reason they have such high pricepoints! Also, they will give kids delicious cookies in the bakery.

the supermarktet of supermarkets

What is likely one of the most expensive supermarkets is also tops down the best in the region. Their attention to detail and their ability to stock the widest variety of goods make it the place to go.

get what you pay for

There are many items here you can't find elsewhere, but it is not for everyday shopping. It'll take all of your money and leave you sitting crying on the curb with only your brie cheese and specialty olives for comfort.

Best Grocery Store Around!

We love the Metropolitan Market (aka Queen Anne to those of us who can't let go of the past). Everyone in the store is committed to high levels of customer service, from the store director on down. They have the best coffee shop staff in town, hands down, and Pat in the wine section goes above and beyond. Excellent bakery, deli, cheese, seafood, meat.....it just never ends. You will pay more for some things, but it's because you are getting excellent quality. Can't say enough good things about this store. One time we were trying to pull together all the ingredients for a special meal and there was one last thing we needed that they were out of. They sent someone across the street to Safeway to buy it and sold it to us at the same price so we wouldn't have to bother crossing the street. Now that's service, and it's that level of service and quality that keeps us coming back.

An amazing store with outstanding customer service!

The Metropolitan Market has an amazing selection and wonderful customer service. The bakery staff are incredibly helpful and so kind to our family. The coffee shop is fantastic. The staff at the coffee shop are always wonderfully friendly and make awesome coffees. :) I don't think the store is overpriced at all, it just has higher end products. Our whole family loves to shop there.

Very Fancy

A really cool market with lots of fancy stuff :) Fancy food, fancy flowers, fancy household items and more. Anything that is hard to find, you could probably find here. My daughter loves this market because they give out flower cookies with frosting in the bakery and have little kid sized carts to push into other shoppers' ankles! Also, Metro Market is always a favorite at Halloween during Proctor Treats when they have hot apple cider and polaroid pictures for their costumre contest.

What can I say, it's Metro Market!

Everything that everybody else has said is true. Fantastic quality, unique selection, friendly staff, HIGH prices. My family never goes there unless when have a bonus paycheck under our belts. We always find more than we can afford and always regret spending as much money as we do, but we have a great time. Is about comparable to Wild Oats Market and Whole Foods in AZ, CA and NV.

quality food

This is a really fun store for me, because I can find items from England which is my home country. So I come here to get things that I can not buy at other regular grocery stores. They have allot of gourmet items, and many more selections than you would find in other stores. Everything is of a really good quality and standard.....but you will pay for it, I could not afford to do a whole grocery shop here. The staff have always been helpful and friendly and it is definatly worth a visit.

the most fantastic produce ever

A little more expensive than safeway, but the produce is great and the employees seem genuinely happy. This is a Seattle/Tacoma chain of grocery stores. The focus is on quality. They have open bins for grains and nuts, etc. Would like to see more food products that are produced in the U.S.A.

Mmmm

This is a grocery that carries specialty items, as well as the normal fare. The deli and bakery are great. Love the soup and salad bar. The staff are usually friendly and will go out of the way to please. I noticed a change in the quality of the floral department offerings about a year ago, seemed to be more polished at one time. This is not the place to go if you are looking to stretch your dollar. But, it is wonderful for hard-to-find items for that special culinary delight. I do go back. I do not shop here as much as I used to. I will only buy ground beef here, they make their own and it is soooo good.

Metropolitan Grocery

Metropolitan carries limited but high quality household items. When it comes to food, one can find foods there that you can't find at other groceries. The meat, vegetables and fruit are of the highest quality. They have their own line of coffee which is roasted there. The people working there are very friendly and helpful. The store is beautifully arranged, and it is easy to select more items than planned. Sometimes it's nice to enjoy grocery shopping and you will find that experience at the Metropolitan, but come prepared to spend a little more than at most grocery stores.

A great store, but a bit expensive...

I like this store very much... wonderful atmosphere, nice helpful staff and you can always count on finding specialized high quality items for special occasions (cheeses, olives...). They also carry a wide variety of organic foods. However It is not cheap! I shop there for specific items I can't find anywhere else.
