The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement organization that has been operational since 1794. The department s intelligence unit generates and disseminates police information related to criminal street gang activities to members of the law enforcement community. Its cyber forensic unit performs forensic examinations of digital evidence and provides technical assistance with investigations in which the technology is a significant element of the crime. The department s K-9 unit is responsible for tracking criminals, finding lost citizens, locating victims of natural disasters and detecting narcotics and bombs.
