Clean facility, most of the instructors are good, staff is friendly. I had heard stories that this place was bad in the past but they got rid of one of the owners and now they are focused on making it better. The school has problems come up but they are always working to fix issues and make it better. Once a month they bring in outside people who help the school and get studetn feed back so we have a voice. Finacial aid will be avalble soon now that the school has full accreditation and it will be better then.

If you are looking for an easy LPN forget it. It is intense. Athena is strict, hit the books 20 hours a day. Reason they properly prepare you for the NCLEX test. I had over 200 questions while my classmates averaged 90. I was the 1st one to take the exam. The Class of 4000/5000 were very fortunate in that we were educated by ICU, OB/GYN, Home Care and UM Hospital Neurological working instructors. They shared their experiences with us. At the end of the program my class arranged for a NCLEX review. We spent 2 days on the the systems and major diseases. Our graduation ceremony was exceptional believe me when I say this. I am not easily impressed.
I live in Michigan and would love to go to athena, does anyone have the best study info for the entrance test.Thank you in advance

Athena is a good school and good thing Artemis is GONE. She was a bully, not only to the students but also to the instructors! Most of the good instructors that helped the graduates get the good board passing rate have left as they could not take her manic rages and screaming. Hopefully the school can get new instructors that do as well. I am a graduate of Athena and I appreciate all the instructors that stayed as long as they did.

I heard Athena's LPN Program has a NCLEX-PN first time passing rate of 94% and a job placement rate of over 89%.

ALso, they just had a class graduate and all of the students passed their state boards (NCLEXPN) their first attempt at testing. The results of the state board examination really speak for itself.

I am currently a student at Athena Career Academy for the Practical Nursing Program- I started in spring of 2010, ARTEMIS GROSS IS NO LONGER THE DIRECTOR OF NURSING and since then the school has done a complete turn around. The new program director is organized, fair and consistent. I would recommend this school to anyone who is interested in changing their life and getting an education that will get you a stable job in one year! Athena also just moved to a new location in Sylvania in Starlite Plaza and it is beautiful, it was custom built for the school and it is brand new and clean. Huge classrooms, Huge labs and a sweet student lounge. I would highly recommend this school to even my friends and family. Athena Career Academy's instructors are practicing registered nurses too so they have that hands on experience that is really helpful!

I attended this school and wish I hadn't. Their are unorganized, unprofessional, and have unrealistic expectation. Artemis the director is a bully. The teacher are controlled by her and they tend to fail students to get them to spend another $5000.00 This school needs help and intervention from the state of Ohio.

DEDE 1984 I graduated in Athena's January 2010 class, it was a intense program but it was worth every minute I was on campus and every minute I spent on my own time studying. My suggestion to you is as soon as you are given the textbooks and materials, start studying, knowing the material prior to learning it in class will give you the upper hand and will help you achieve better grades. I am just now getting ready to take my state boards, I wanted to make sure I was fully ready and I honestly wanted a little break. Athena offered a detailed NCLEX Review course that also helped prepare me for state boards.Good Luck! PS. The buddy system helps you get through the program too!
i will be starting june 1st. i cant wait iam ready to knock this out! lol. so can anybody tell me how is the program and how long did it take you to take your boards as soon as you got finshed with the program. the only think i can say that i dont like about the school is that there tution is so high 19,500 wow. lol. alot for a lpn program but hey i gotta do what i gotta do. wish me good luck you guys!!

Starting in June, enrollment is super easy and super understandable. Athena's admissions breaks down the enrollment process into the basics which makes it very helpful. Any time I call I always get to speak directly to someone in admissions and unlike other schools I am rarely put on hold or have to leave a message and wait! I have even been able to speak to the director of the nursing program herself. I believe her name is Artamis. Athena is very straight forward and organized in their enrollment process and I am so anxious to start my program. I have been out of school for 9 years but I really am not worried because I know the classes are smaller since the school is private and I have heard positive feedback from any of the students I have spoken with about the instructors and the attentionOver any NW Ohio school I'm glad I chose Athena.

I am currently enrolled in the LPN Program with Athena in Toledo, I love it! Is it a tough program? Yes but it is so worth it. The program is just one year long and the instructors are such a help. The school is smaller and private so the student to teacher ratio is very personal. I looked at other nursing schools in the area but declined because of their waiting list and large classes. Athena doesn't have a waiting list and enrollment was very simple with the help of their student services. Any nursing program is going to be tough but its what you make of it, some people aren't cut out and if you are one of those people Athena is not for you, but if you are dedicated and motivated Athena is the right choice. I can't wait to graduate. I believe the classes start in 3 month periods; June 2010. Sept. 2010 Dec 2010.

i was interested in the licensed practical nursing program but didn't want to be stuck on a waiting list; athena career academy did not have a waiting list and they were very helpful in the enrollment process. i am very excited to attend athena. i would recomend this school already.
