Dr. Oswald is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in medical and surgical diseases of the eye, including cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation, glaucoma, and medical laser procedures. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.S. degree in Zoology. His medical degree was earned from LSU Medical Center in New Orleans where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Oswald completed his ophthalmology residency at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he served as chief resident during his final year. Dr. Oswald joined Asheville Eye in September 2016 after having previously practiced in Haywood County for 10 Years. He is currently seeing patients in the Sylva office. He lives in Waynesville with his wife and four children. He enjoys travel and spending time with his family.

I had a wonderful experience! Everything was perfect.
I had cataract surgery and Dr. Oswald told me about the different
lens possibilities. My goal was to not wear glasses so I went with the tri-focal intraocular lens and have been extremely pleased Dr. Oswald was spot on with his recommendation.
A welcoming and very warm staff greeted me. Dr. Oswald is very professional and attentive. He is a good listener and made the exam go easily. I was comfortable with the entire process. I look forward to future visits at your clinic.

Dr. Oswald was my doctor years ago in another practice in Canton, NC. When he moved, I had to seek out a new ophthalmologist with which I had less-than-satisfactory care during cataract surgery. I am so thankful Dr. Oswald has returned to AEA! I only wish he could have done my surgery but he is now treating my glaucoma with the same excellent care I received from him before. It really matters when one finds a doctor who is knowledgeable, caring, and takes time to listen and explain! Thank you!
