I was contacted by the owner for a job posting. It was the most bizarre interview, or should I say interrogation. Apparently, if you have a Portuguese last name, that's what gets you in the door and possibly a job. He asked illegal questions (do you have kids, does your husband have a job, does he have medical insurance) while his wife sat there listening. He was getting so out of hand with the questions his wife had to sternly say his name to reel him in. He replied, "I'm old fashioned, I have to know these things because I feel they affect the ability to perform the job and availability." Then he tells me the job they're really hiring for isn't the one that was advertised. He then wanted to know about my last name (because it was Portuguese) and if my husband and I were Portuguese. Rude doesn't even begin to describe this man.
