EL PATRON was a rare find for me in Sun Prairie and I will highly recommend it to anyone. By the way, they have even built a deck attached to the restaurant for those who enjoy being outdoors as they enjoy their exquisite food, or even to sit back, relax and have a couple bottles of cervaza!! 5 stars and my highest rating go to this low to moderately priced restaurant. Thanks for coming to Sun Prairie. Very friendly and ?customer service? oriented. My daughter and I are both vegetarians and were assured our wants and needs will be taken care of. Every employee we came into contact with was genuinely SUPER FRIENDLY and wanted to please us in any way they could. We enjoy returning because the food and customer service is every bit as it was on our first visit. My daughter enjoys trying different selections from the menu (as just about anything they have can be prepared in a vegetarian format), but I am kind of addicted to the huge salad and enjoy them each time as well as the time.

We've gone here twice. The first time we walked out after waiting 45min for our food without ever being checked on. Thought we'd try again after they'd been open awhile. They were not busy but our food took for ever. When we did get it, it was nasty not authentic all. Definitely will not be going there again.

I have made this place a regular sun lunch stop. The food is amazing and the service rocks.The staff is always cleaning which I can appreciate. This does not fell like a new restaurant as everything is done so well!!

Best mexican food east of the Mississippi... I'm used to California Mexican Resturantes, El Patron comes close. The salsa could be more authentic, even fresh, rather than bottled. And I like my frioles chunky, rather than pureed. Service was good considering the crowd. jPrices were fair. I'll go back again.

We went for the first time with a larger group. The food was ok, but the service was not. We had 11 people in our party. A big group, but not enormous by any stretch. After we got our water it took nearly 15 minutes to place our order and the place was not that busy, maybe half full. Two of the dishes were wrong. One of them, is a choice of beef or chicken. The patron didn't realize there was a choice and thought it was a beef burrito and the waitress never asked even though it clearly says in the menu beef OR chicken. I guess the kitchen assumes chicken unless otherwise stated. Then when the patron was served and realized it was chicken and wanted to send it back, the waitress got defensive and argumentative. If there is a choice, the waitress needs to ask what the patron wants. Then when we got the bill, the waitress realized a mistake was made and had to go back and add more items to the bill. Not very professional. Would not recommend and won't go again.

The best mexican food I've had in the area. Also, I don't like margarita's on the rocks - but I tried on here and it was AMAZING!!!! Definately recommend this restaurant to others!!

For Sun Prairie, this is a good place. Fairly nice atmosphere - better than the other Mexican place in town in terms of decorating, good food, good chips and margaritas. And very reasonable prices.

Yuck! I visited this weekend and had an all-around terrible experience. First, we walked in and no one even spoke to us to take our names for the wait. Then when we finally sat down, it took 12 minutes before we were asked to place our drink order, then another 10 minutes to even receive our drinks. 15 minutes after getting our drinks, our waiter finally came over and brought us stale chips and watery tomatoes that they tried passing off as salsa. He took our order but instead of taking it to the kitchen right away, he went to the neighboring table and started flirting and talking for 5 minutes. It took nearly 40 minutes just to get our food and when we finally did, it was cold and dried out. I am surprised that a new restaurant wouldn't be more on top of their game. Overall experience was miserable and we will never return. We have spoke to many friends and told them not to go, unless they want the worst Mexican food of their lives. I'll be surprised if they stay in business.

Not a good experience from the beginning; same person taking your name for a table and trying to take payments from a line of diners. No waiting area, very congested entrance. Waiter was very distractedl; never introduced self, did not check back after our meal was delivered by kitchen help, but spent a lot of time with neighboring table. Finally got his attention to order more drinks and after 15 minutes, grabbed a manager and explained situation. In that same time, the next table ordered more drinks, chips, and received them literally within 3 minutes. Finally got our watered down drinks. The burrito was mostly onions (steak burrito) and maybe only 1/2" in depth. The meat tasted good, however, very salty. If they use a lot of salt, they better be ready to take drink orders! Not going back.
