- ArthritisRheumatoid arthritis is another type of arthritis, although it is not as easily understood. It develops as an autoimmune response, meaning that the immune system sees your joints as a threat and decides to attack them. Researchers have come to believe that your medical history, environment, and hormones could all be contributing factors in the development of rheumatoid arthritis. Because it is an autoimmune condition, it is common for it to affect the same joints on both sides of your body. It is also more prevalent in females than in males.

- Plantar FasciitisI was told I might need to have surgery on my foot for plantar fasciitis. I was in so much pain I could barely walk. I decided to give physical therapy a try as a last effort to avoid surgery. I wish I had come in months earlier! My therapist listened to me, worked with me, and spent 30 minutes with me at each appointment before I even did my exercises. My podiatrist was very happy with the results. Walker Physical Therapy is top notch, I would not go anywhere else!

- NeurologyNeuro therapy helps determine the areas that need work, while physical therapy helps those areas improve. Neuro therapy is a non-invasive treatment method that analyzes brain activity in order to determine how it can be changed to help improve your function. With neuro therapy, an EEG is used to measure brain activity and create “brain maps.” Physical therapists and neurological therapists work closely together in order to create the best treatment plan possible for each patient. By participating in physical therapy treatments following a neurological injury, you can improve your function, perform targeted activities, and regain your independence much faster. PTs specializing in neurology work with patients who have a wide range of neurological disorders, including, but not limited to...
- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeCarpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS): Carpal tunnel syndrome impacts approximately 5% of all Americans, according to the American Physical Therapy Association. The main job of the carpal tunnel is to protect the median nerve on the inside of your wrist, in addition to the tendons you use to bend the fingers. However, it is possible for this tunnel to become constricted, and when it does, nerve compression can result, leading to a variety of symptoms, such as numbness and tingling to the thumb, 1st, and 2nd fingers. In addition, pain to the wrist, hand, as well as swelling to the hand and fingers, is even possible. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) can be caused by an injury or by repetitive job-related use, such as assembly-line work, keyboard-heavy work, or driving heavy machinery.
- Multiple SclerosisCommon symptoms of multiple sclerosis include pain, fatigue, and weakness. Fortunately, physical therapy can help manage and decrease these symptoms. Our Menifee, CA physical therapists will provide you with targeted stretches to ease muscle spasms and targeted exercises to increase strength and range of motion. You will also work on activities to help with balance and movement, in addition to being provided with information on the correct use of assistive devices.

- SciaticaBack pain commonly results from a muscle strain or injury; however, it can also develop as a result of an underlying condition, such as a herniated disc, sciatica, or degenerative disc disease. Poor posture, car accidents, and sports-related injuries are also common ways that someone may develop back pain. Your physical therapist will focus on treating the root of your back pain, in order to help you regain mobility, function, and comfort.
- WhiplashMusculoskeletal headaches. Musculoskeletal headaches occur when there are significant amounts of tension in the neck. This is typically a result of physical imbalances, weaknesses, or damage, although emotional tension (such as stress) can also be a contributing factor. A traumatic injury to the neck, such as whiplash, is a common cause of musculoskeletal headaches. With neck injuries such as whiplash, the muscles and connective tissues in the neck can become torn or strained. This can lead to agonizing pain felt in the head, as well as in the face, shoulders, or neck.

- Physical TherapyWalker Physical Therapy helps patients with many different conditions. Please see the diagram below for information on common conditions we treat and how physical therapy can help you.
- Frozen ShoulderSprains and strains are among the most commonly experienced overuse injuries in the shoulder area. A strain occurs when a muscle or tendon is stretched too far or torn. A sprain occurs when a ligament is stretched too far or torn. Strains and sprains can result in an ongoing shoulder pain that may make it difficult to partake in exercise or even daily tasks. If the strain or sprain is minor, it can sometimes be iced at home and healed with rest. More severe strains and sprains will often require physical therapy treatments. Additional shoulder injuries include a torn cartilage, dislocation, tendinitis, frozen shoulder, and arthritis.
- Tennis ElbowTennis Elbow and Golfer’s Elbow: Tennis elbow refers to pain on the lateral or outside aspect of the elbow, whereas golfer’s elbow refers to pain on the medial or inside aspect of the elbow. Both of these injuries are a result of repetitive use injuries and can be attributed to a variety of different tasks, not just the sports they are named after. Physical therapy is the best treatment for either of these conditions, because it restores the underlying joint and soft tissue limitations, that are causing strain to the tendons, and reduces the inflammation quite rapidly.
- Slipped DiscIf it weren’t for Gary, I’d have had back surgery long ago. Taking care of slipped disc and a hip that kept rotating out, then developing exercises for me has changed my life. Gary is the greatest!

- Aquatic TherapyAquatic therapy is ideal for a variety of conditions as the soothing effects of water support the body and allow for a freedom of movement that is hard replicate out of the pool. For those suffering with back, shoulder, arthritis, knee, hip and walking difficulties, aquatic therapy is ideal. The buoyancy of the water allows for muscles to work gently against resistance, increasing mobility of joints and allowing walking or exercising without weight bearing.
- Manual TherapyThe specific type, magnitude, speed, and frequency of joint mobilization performed depends on several factors, including the goal of treatment, the type of joint being targeted, and even your own unique anatomy. The primary effects of joint mobilizations include pain reduction, improved range of motion, and improved quality of joint movement itself (known as arthrokinematics).
- TMJ DysfunctionAre you having difficulty chewing or yawning? Do you have jaw pain? Do you hear a clicking noise when you open and shut your mouth? If so, these may all be symptoms of TMJ dysfunction. Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, also known as TMJ dysfunction, is a condition that causes pain and stiffness of the jaw joint and its surrounding muscles. This can make it very difficult to open your mouth, talk, yawn, and chew.
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Ankle Sprain
- Flat FeetFallen arches. Your foot contains several tendons that work together to form your arch. When the tendons pull together properly, your foot will form a proper arch. However, when the tendons do not pull together properly, your foot will form a very small arch, or no arch at all. This is referred to as “fallen arch” or “flat foot” and can cause pain or discomfort.
- Heel Pain
- Foot Pain
- Plantar FasciitisPlantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation in the connective tissue on the bottom of your foot. This can occur from aggravated overuse, such as constant standing, improper posture, or footwear that lacks proper arch support.
