Operational since 1877, American Humane Association has been protecting children, pets and farm animals from abuse and neglect. The organization undertakes research, education, training and services that span a wide network of organizations, agencies and businesses. Its children's division develops programs, policies, training, research and evaluation to prevent and respond to child abuse. Based in Sherman Oaks, Calif., American Humane Association offers dog-bite prevention program. In addition, the organization promotes adoption as well as provides animal emergency services.
