Symmetry Laser Vein Center was founded in 2005 by S.Scott Tapper MD, FACS, the only Board Certified Vascular Surgeon in our area trained to perform endovenous laser ablation of varicose veins. Dr Tapper is an accomplished vascular surgeon who is double board certified in General Surgery & Vascular Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of numerous Vascular Surgical Societies. His education and training include Brown University, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine & Vanderbilt University Hospital. Dr Tapper is also on staff at Martin Memorial Hospital. FDA approved Endo Venous Laser Ablation (ELAS) is a minimally invasive procedure that causes little or no side effects. It is highly successful in removing varicose veins with a laser technique, a welcomed alternative to the old painful method of vein stripping. In less than 2 hours, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, allowing you to be awake, alert & comfortable. A laser fiber is threaded up the vein to the source of the problem, as the laser is withdrawn the vein collapses and seals shut. A compression bandage is placed on your leg, and you're up and walking immediately after the procedure. The varicose vein is eliminated and normal daily activities may be resumed within a couple of days with minimal or no scarring, bruising or swelling. Dr. Tapper takes pride in offering you the total package in vein treatment. You will have a full consultation with a board certified vascular surgeon and a treatment plan suited for you. Treatment options may include compression stockings, injection Sclerotherapy, laser Sclerotherapy, micro phlebectomy, endovenous ablation and/or Endovenous Laser Ablation (ELAS). A combination of these procedures may be needed to fully address your individual needs.
