First Bank operates as an independent community bank in the northern Shenandoah Valley. The bank is a fully owned subsidiary of First National Corporation. It opened in 1907 under the name of Peoples National Bank of Strasburg. In 1994, the bank converted from a national bank to a state bank and adopted its new name, First Bank. First Bank s online banking service enables customers to check account balances, review transaction history, view and print check images, schedule and track bill payments, transfer money between accounts, etc. It is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and is an Equal Housing Lender.
