      About Furst-McNess Furst-McNess is committed to being a major independent agribusiness nutrition company serving the dairy, beef and swine industries with a complete line of McNess mineral and premix products, custom formulated manufactured livestock feeds, wet brewers grain, commodity merchandising and nutrition consulting. We also service the food and beverage industries by establishing a market for their waste streams as economical livestock feeding ingredients. Through employee business leaders at the local level, the company will respond to market needs, expand our influence and deliver best value in service and nutrition to the large livestock producer and selected independent retail distributors. Furst-McNess enthusiastically supports continuous learning throughout the organization by providing staff with superior nutrition training and advanced technology. We deliver nutrition, value and performance. History of Furst-McNess Company Furst-McNess Company was started in 1908 in Freeport, Illinois. The company served area farmers and small town people with a quality line of livestock remedies and household products. At that time, Frank Furst, a young Freeport lawyer, joined his talents and ambition with those of Frederick McNess, a brilliant pharmacist in this new venture. Horse drawn delivery buggy from early 1900's right from the start, our company's line included effective livestock products such as McNess Saltonic In the late 50's, Furst-McNess answered farmer's needs for vitamin/mineral premixes to be used in making livestock rations right on the farm. Midwestern farmers were provided these premixes out of the Freeport, Illinois plant that also now serves as the company's headquarters. Company officers are Jack Smit, Vice President Agribusiness Division; Matthew Hartman, Chief Financial Officer; Matthew Heinrich, Vice President Technology; David Youngblut, Vice President Operations; Martha Furst, President and Chief Executive Officer and Frank E. (Ned) Furst, Chairman of the Board.
