      The Workers Compensation Appeals Board is governed by the Division of Workers' Compensation, which is operated by the California Department of Industrial Relations. The Workers Compensation Appeals Board exercises judicial powers vested by the Labor Code and provides guidance and leadership to the workers compensation community through case opinions and regulations. Its judicial body is appointed by the governor. The board s major functions include review of petitions for reconsideration of decisions by workers compensation administrative law judges and regulation of adjudication process by adopting rules of practice and procedure. The Division of Workers' Compensation monitors the administration of workers' compensation claims. The Workers Compensation Appeals Board maintains one of its locations in Stockton, Calif.
