Smith-Barnes Elementary School serves students in grades four and five. Its academic curriculum includes programs in reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally offers classes in art, music and physical education. Smith-Barnes Elementary School also offers an after-school enrichment program. It offers an early intervention program that provides additional instructional resources to help students who are performing below grade level. The school organizes geography and spelling bee and poetry recitation competitions. Smith-Barnes Elementary School supports a junior beta club that focuses on service-related projects. In addition, it organizes competitions that provide opportunities to students to display what they have learned about African Americans. The school is located in Stockbridge, Ga., and is a part of Henry County Schools.
