Bethel Assembly of God, Springfield Missouri was founded in 1935 as Northeast Assembly. After a severe snow storm destroyed the original building, we relocated to 1005 E Dale, and took the name Bethel Assembly The new church was erected in 1953 and served the area residents for over 53 years. During this time hundreds families and individuals many of them students, from Central Bible College, and Evangel {College University, the Theolgical Seminary as well as SMSU, Drury and local technical schools have passed through our doors and are even now ministering across North America, South America and overseas. Planning for the future and securing our ability to grow we purchased 20 acres of land north of CBC and the yet to be built Maranatha Village. The site went through a number of workovers, having the City Utilities extend their sewer trunk to the corner of our property at our expense. Reducing the valley depth leading to the future site with many thousands of loads of fill material over the years. Working with the EPA and Water Shed departments to establish water retention basins large enough to service the church's needs as well as the neighboring subdivision' s. With the Lord's insight Bethel's Building Plans were to allow for maximum flexibility while incurring only a minimal amount of debt. Along the way the building at Dale and East was put up for sale a number of times, but those interested did not have the funding to buy, which we inturn needed to build, so we waited for the Lord to open the doors. In the fall of 2005 we put the church back on the market, and just at the end of the 1 year contract 3 different Church bodies showed interest. In 2006 a Romanian Pentecostal Group bought the building at the Dale St site and Bethel began the construction of their new facility located 5 blocks north of Central Bible College on North Grant. Our new address is 3580 N Farm Road 151 (Grant) Springfield Mo65803. We have been in our new building for a little more than a 3 years. Bethel has had 12 Ministers, Starting with the Late Rev. Pauline Masters all the up to our present Pastor, Rev. Derreld W Wartenbee who came to Springfield in 1967 to fill the Pulpit and has guided this little church over 40 years of its life here in the Ozarks. Ministry over the Radio has an equally long impact over stations like KTXR, KLFJ, among others and was heard KWFC 89.1 FM 5 days a week, up through 2010.
