First-classBetter than mostAbout what I expectedNot the worst...Disappointing

August 23, 2012 I had a service light issue took my Trailblazer to a dealer in National City; they charge $158.00 for a Diagnostic. My husband insisted that I go to Pep Boys in Spring Valley, which he had just had his 9 year old Altima repaired, he was very pleased with the Specialist there. Anyway! I took my SUV to Pep Boys, had the diagnostic done very affordable, which would be applied to my repairs, great deal, they took me home and would have pick me up, called, told me what the Diagnostic test found, explaining the procedure, so they keep it overnight, they make contact with me all thur the next day, explaining what was taking place. Call me, to pick it up, this was a welcoming experience for a woman to in trust their vehicle to strangers, there were two other woman there, they were very relaxed while waiting for results. I was very happy with all the results, which took place. The crew is very friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable, the specialist, very skillful, has a very p

The worst mechanics ever.

I took my mini van there to get a oil change, tuneup, and to see why my engine light is on. Nothing else was wrong with my van. They offered to a 3 step system. I picked up my van the engine light was turned off but I started driving it my car. Started jolting. The next morning the engine light came on again we called pep boys and let them know they said to bring the van back to diagnose the problem. I took the van back they test drove the van to see what I was talking about they then took they check the engine light and the same code came back. We then left the van again so they can check the work they did the day before. They then told us the computer that reads the parts was broken and we needed a new one and the reason why the car is jolting is. Because something is wrong with the transmission. In my head I knew it was not the transmission because my van was running fine before I took it to them. So I take my van home. My husband drives to the store down the street to the store my van turned off on him 3 times on the way home. The next day my van would not start at all. I was very upset that the second time that I took the van to pep boys a new problem. I asked my maintenance guy to check my car since he fixed my sister car. He found the problem less than 5 minutes he said that all the problems was because of the fuel not passing through the engine. Pep boys towed my van to there shop I didn't tell them that I knew the problem to the van. I wanted to see if they really knew what they were doing. I asked them could the fuel pump cause the jolting and the shutting down they said no. We ended up having to rent a van for the weekend since we had already reserved a room in anahem because we had planned to go to disneyland with our van that was running fine before we took it to pep boys. We ended up spending over 700.00 for a van that we could not drive and another 500.00 for the car we had to rent. It turns out that it was the fuel pump. My husband and my brother in law fixed it not only did my van stop jolting the engine light turned off what do you know it was not the transmission or the computer.

I will no recommend this place to my friends. If I have a strong evidence to support my case I will go to the court. Here is my story. I brought my car for a regular oil change. Because of the extended warranty I cannot perfrom any services on the car by myself. Before going to the oil change I decided to remove the bally pan and inspect the car. No issue was found. I drop my car at PepBoys and decided do not stay and watch (my fault). When I came back to pick up the car, I was told that one of the CV boot is torn. Tech. Rep. showed me the small amount of grease around the CV boot and the break caliper (inside part). I was really surprised. I did not see any grease when was removing the plastic cover before bringing the car. So, I declined the proposal to replace the CV boot in PepBoys and went to Audi mechanic. He looked at the CV boot and observed a small cut there. The entire CV boot was in good condition except this small cut. Any questions?
