This was my first time visiting FL, Miami and if I had known about this place sooner I wouldnt have spent time searching for clubs or trying to party; I wouldve just stayed at the ranch enjoying the horses and the family environment. The owner is so amazing and friendly and they were all so helpful. They made us feel comfortable with the horses, so comfortable my husband and I learned quickly how to speak to the horses and began to canter early on during our ride. It's truly an amazing experience and this will definitely be a yearly family trip with my two sons. Very affordable, there is an hour and a half trail and a 3 hour trail. Make sure you wear jeans and bring your best cow boy boots. Oh and if it rains and thunders just wait it out, dont leave. You wont regret it.

First time on horse back in 30 years! This was a surprise birthday gift and I loved it. The staff ,the trail, the horses, everything five (5) star. We'll be doing this again. Awesome experience.

I went to American Horse Trail for my first horse back riding experience, and it was so0o much fun! The people (and the horses too!) were both welcoming and kind.



Our riding instructor/guide was competent and knowledgeable about horses and riding, and she made every effort to make sure that my first horseback riding experience was comfortable and safe. After the trial American Horse Trail provided us with a delicious meal.



I can't wait to come back soon!!!

Whether your a beginner or have experience American Horse Trails is the place to be as the staff are well knowledgable, kind, and patient and not to mention their gorgeous kind horses. This place is a easy five out of five. The family is GREAT, extremely friendly and outgoing, knowledgeable, and very patient with new beginners. They have a great variety of horses for whatever skill level you are at. The horses themselves are friendly, very well behaved, clean and healthy with their unforgettable personalities and funny traits. All of these great positives makes this place somewhere not only am I planning on going to again but will tell my friends and family to do as well. Out of towners should have this on their must do list for a south Florida attraction. Nothing bad can be said about this place. WILL DO AGAIN AND AGAIN!

Horseback riding at its best is located in Southwest Ranches, FL. American Horse Trails offers a safe, quality experience. The horses are clean, well-fed, obviously cared for with compassion and patience. The Owner, Herb, is a patient instructor and talented trail guide. On our latest trail we took the intermediate, 2-hour ride, and enjoyed the view along with an occasional trot and canter, alternated with sight-seeing views and a walk in the water (which cooled down the over-heated horses and gave us a chance to learn a little more about the environment)! This is not your typical "get in line and follow the leader" kind of stables! The trail guides are experienced, personable and eager to make the ride comfortable and fun. They even offer a gentle "walking trail" with guides who lead the horses and teach the inexperienced the art of handling horses and learning to respect and enjoy these beautiful animals. American Horse Trails is a MUST if you are traveling/visiting the area. If you live in South Florida and haven't been to AHT, you are missing out on one of the great attractions close to home. It's down-home ranching, where you feel like family and are treated like guests! Put in on your list of things-to-do. You won't regret it!

This was a very exellent experience, Mr. Herb was great he really knows about horses and safety. We all got confortable right away..I would definetly do it again.

I took my 17 year old step daughter for a trail ride and it was FANTASTIC. Whether you are an experienced rider and former horse owner like myself, or a first timer like my step daughter, you will have a great experience. Their horses are absolutely gorgeous, extremely healthy and very well trained. Herb was our guide and he was a lot of fun to be with. Since they don't try to cram 10 or 15 or 20 riders on one trail ride like so many other places they are able to focus individual attention to each rider. We paid for one hour but we actually spent close to 90 minutes on the horses. Before taking us out he made sure we were comfortable with the horses and let us ride around in a large ring for several minutes. It was a terrific experience and I can't wait to go back. I know my stepdaughter is already makiing plans to go back with her firends.

I had an Amazing time! It was my 21st Birthday and I took the 3-hour trail with my mother and Herb taught us the ropes. It was all a matter of getting used to it and soon enough we were trotting and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Herb was great at encouraging us, teaching us and lightening things up with his great sense of humor! Everyone on the ranch was so kind and the free barbeque they provided at the end was delicious! I definitely plan on returning to ride not only because of the truly wonderful experience of riding on a horse, but for the great treatment they provided. The horses are well trained, the trails are beautiful with wonderful lakes and canals and nearby wildlife.

On a whim we called American Horse Trail and spoke to Herb. He was able to fit us in the very next day. The horses are beautiful and friendly. Herb is easygoing, informative, and encouraging. His teaching style is so informal that you don't even realize you are being "instructed." I am a very novice rider but I was comfortable and confidant from the beginning. I am going back next week. Like it or not, Herb is going to see a lot of me in the coming months! =)

For my 30th birthday, my love surprised me with horseback riding. Let me say, I had never done it before. We were warmly greeted by Vanessa and Herb, matched to horses, given instructions and time to get comfortable with simple instructions for the horse. Herb was absolutely wonderful. His instructions are clear. His manner is fun loving but he is serious about teaching you to ride and caring for his animals. Tasha, his black lab mix, came with us and is a wonderful dog. She was swimming in canals and the lake and running next to us the entire time. I could never have imagined a more perfect ride. Herb constantly taught me what was right and encouraged me the entire time. At one point, Herb and my husband were ahead of me and Barbie (my horse) and I trotted to catch up with them. I felt so confident during the ride because of his reassurance and ability to make me feel safe that I allowed Barbie to trot as she felt. GREAT PEOPLE!!!! GREAT HORSES!!! ALL MAKE FOR A GREAT RIDE!!!!

Cannot say enough about Herb, Vanessa and all the people associated with American Horse Trails. If you are looking for sincere, caring pros, look no further. The attention is first rate, the horses are very well taken care of and you are not treated as a customer, but as a family member. I would recommend this group any time and twice on Sundays.

American Horse Trails is the only place I know that customizes the ride to fit your group and riding ability. Herb is very careful to match riders with the perfect horse. I went out with an advanced group on a 3 hour trail and all I can say is Wow, that was FUN!!! We went to a beautiful lake and my horse even went swimming! I am not sure who had more of a workout, me or my horse? Much better than the gym! I will definitely be back for a ride the first chance I get.

I take horseback riding lessons at American Horse Trails and love it! Everyone there is amazing and make me feel like family! Herb is fabulous at giving lessons and is extremely patient. I've been on several of the horses now and all of them are well trained and well cared for. I highly recommend American Horse Trails to anybody looking to go on a horseback riding adventure!

I just went on the ride today and it was absolutely wonderful! The sites are amazing. If you are looking for a laid back farm that is well kept and friendly. As I pulled up, I was offered coffee and donuts and was fitted to a horse. Herb, the owner of the farm, took me on my private ride. We went everywhere. I took the 3hr ride opportunity and it was very eventful. Trail blazing was an added bonus. Tasha, the little black dog, was running right by our sides the whole time. She was getting lost in the woods and going swimming. It was a blast! I would recommend this to anyone. The prices are great. When I come back to Florida, I will be riding with Herb again. One of the best aspects about this farm is how they take care of their horses. Each horse gets brushed thoroughly and get checked over at the beginning and end of the ride to make sure no cuts or scrapes. It's a great adventure for you and your family, or just you. It's your party and Herb going out on this ride. It's definitely not your average guided trail riding place where you are stuck on dead broke horses. You get more experience and excitement here than anywhere else!



Now Herb, when you read this (because I know you will), I will look forward to riding with you again when I get back and to go to our new lake again. Your horses are wonderful!

Went on a trail in the middle of the Everglades and saw lots of wildlife you can only see in this particular part of the United States. Had a great time. Can't wait to come back and do it again.

I have taken horsebacking riding classes with other farms but with American horse trails, its fantastic. The patience and the knowledge that Herb has for his students and his horses its incredible. I started with them in March of 2008 taking horseback riding lessons twice a week and moved up to the different trail rides and it was great. The horses are nicely maintained and very sweet. I joined the members club and its alot of fun, we dress up in chaps and after every ride we have barbeque lunches.

When i went to american horse trails i was welcome very kindly. The horses are amazing,and the people who work there are great. They are very kind and care about your safety and needs. We started on a15 minute lesson and The trail boss said i was ok to go on a trail for an hour. I had chaps on a cowgirl hat,and was on one of the most amazing horse. We set off for the trail and i loved it. When we came back they let me go around the ring to cool the horse off and after that ask me if i enjoyed it, and if i had any questions. I said i loved it and i had one question when can i come again? The trail boss said anytime just call ahead so he could fit me in the schedule. I just wanted to say thank you Herb Garcia, i had a wonderful time at your ranch, and can't wait for my next trail ride.
