Martin Asphalt Company blazed its trail as a supplier of paving and roofing asphalts. Over time, the company became a multi-million dollar corporation with customers throughout the United States and around the world. Its customer base ranges from independent contractors to multi-national corporations. Martin Asphalt Company customers include foreign governments and municipalities as well as flooring distributors and metal building construction companies. The company operates two manufacturing plants, the asphalt product plant in South Houston, Texas; and GSSI, a butyl tape plant in Westwego, La. Both of these facilities are located near international seaports and major airports. In addition, the South Houston plant has rail access. This proximity to rail transport allows the company to ensure rapid shipping at lower costs. Martin Asphalt Company has been in business since 1947.
