An out-of-town friend and I dined at Four Oaks on the evening of 6-4-11. Having arrived around 8:00 pm, we were looking forward to a relaxed dinner. Upon ordering drinks and an appetizer, our waitress insisted on taking our orders for dinner. Since prime rib was the evening special, each of us ordered same. We had not half finished our appetizer and had yet to go to the salad bar, when our waitress brought us our entrees and sat them on the table. Needless to say, by the time we finished our appetizer and salads our entrees were cold. Our waitress was to busy in conversation with another customer across the dining room to worry about us. The prime rib was cold and this turned out to be a very bad dining experience. South Boston does not have many nice dining establishments, but if we had wanted fast food or be rushed, we could have gone to McDonald's.

the atmosphere was nice with a hint of sophistication. the menu was well balanced and our dinner was well prepared. the service was good. i would have liked glass salad bowls to go with the linen tablecloths and linen napkins. i will go back again.
