Internal Medicine Physicians or "Internists" (not to be confused with "interns") are doctors who are trained to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases that primarily affect adults. Internists are specially trained to care for patients who have chronic and multiple illnesses but also help patients stay well by promoting healthy lifestyles and educating patients about disease prevention.
