  Dr. Ross Kelt is a greater New Orleans area native who went to Rummel High School in Metairie. He graduated from LSU with a degree in biological sciences in 2015. After graduating from LSU, Dr. Kelt served south Louisiana communities by working as the Technical Director at the Baton Rouge Regional Eye Bank. As Technical Director, he placed donor corneas to surgeons who performed corneal transplants and worked with families to honor their loved ones. Dr. Kelt graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry where he completed multiple clinical rotations in pediatrics, specialty contact lenses, myopia management, vision therapy, dry eye, glaucoma, and surgical co-management. Dr. Kelt has a focus on ocular disease management, specialty contact lens, and pediatrics. He is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and American Optometric Association. He is a skilled and compassionate clinician who enjoys giving back to the community he was raised in. In his free time Dr. Kelt enjoys fishing, hunting, swimming, and spending quality time with his wife and children.

  Dr. Domangue, a native of Slidell, is a skilled Ophthalmic Surgeon and excellent clinician. Dr. Domangue graduated Cum Laude from Tulane University in 2014 where she received her Bachelor of Sciences Degree. She continued her higher level education at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans where she earned a Doctor of Medicine degree. She completed her training in Ophthalmology at LSU School of Medicine which included a rigorous 4 year training program. She is highly skilled at treating all eye conditions and has received extensive training in small incision cataract surgery, refractive eye surgery, advanced glaucoma treatments and age related eye disorders such as Age Related Macular Degeneration.

  Dr. Hemelt is a board certified Ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience. A native of New Orleans, he moved to Slidell in 2000 when he joined Northlake Eye Center. Dr. Hemelt has practiced exclusively in St. Tammany for the past 23 years in private practice. He is trained to treat all eye disease and has a focus on General Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery as well as Blepharoplasty eyelid surgery. He is a highly skilled surgeon and clinician. He diagnosis and treats all eye conditions.

• Laser Eye Surgery
  LASIK surgery is performed by creating a small flap of corneal tissue that is elevated. The eximer laser treatment is applied and the flap is repositioned. Although there is slightly more risk of complications associated with LASIK compared to PRK, it is associated with less pain, quicker visual recovery and more convenience since both eyes can be operated on at the same time. For many, the benefits of quicker recovery from LASIK outweigh the slight increase in surgical risk.

  Primarily, cataract surgery is a functional procedure that replaces the cloudy lens of the eye with a clear implant. Today, however, because of the advances in technology, cataract surgery is as much a refractive procedure as it is a functional procedure. As is usually the case when technology advances, the consumer (or patient in this case) has more options to choose from! Read on to learn your options.
• Cataract Surgery
  Multifocal Lens Implant Currently approved by the FDA for implantation only at the time of cataract surgery, this exciting new lens implant provides correction of both distance and near vision without the need for glasses. Although some people notice glare and halos around lights at night, the greatly reduced dependence on eyeglasses more than offsets this sometimes annoying side effect. Occasionally, some patients receiving this lens implant will require weak reading glasses while working at the computer and very rarely, eyeglasses may be required for some tasks at near. Some patients may choose to receive the MULTIFOCAL lens implant to reduce their dependence on glasses before they develop cataracts. The patient must, however, understand that this is an "off-label" use of this product (not FDA approved for this purpose) and must sign an informed consent that states that they understand this fact as well as all of the risks and benefits of the procedure.
