Jonathan S. Steinberg, MD joins Summit Health as the Director, Summit Health Arrhythmia Center and Director, Cardiac Clinical Trials and Education.Dr. Steinberg specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, and has an international reputation for diagnosis of complex arrhythmic conditions and expertise in catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias. Dr. Steinberg has an extensive clinical and research track record in the field, having practiced for more than 25 years. His past accomplishments include founding the Arrhythmia Institute at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, where he also serviced as Director of the Division of Cardiology, and the Arrhythmia Institute at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. He is the lead editor of the electrophysiology textbook, A Practical Guide to Catheter Ablation of AF. He has led or participated in hundreds of research studies in his area of expertise, and has authored more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed high-profile publications.Dr. Steinberg is currently a Professor of Medicine (adj) at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry and formerly Professor of Medicine at Columbia University. He is the recipient of numerous research grants (including prestigious funding from the NIH), serves on the editorial board of several electrophysiology journals (including Heart Rhythm, published by the Heart Rhythm Society) and is currently on the electrophysiology subcommittee of the American Board of Internal Medicine preparing board questions for his peers. He is a fellow in several professional societies including the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the European Society of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society. He currently serves as President of the International Society of Holter and Noninvasive Electrocardiology.Dr. Steinberg has been recognized by his peers as a Top Doctor in New York Magazine for numerous years, and was the only New Jersey electrophysiologist selected in 2016. He has been similarly recognized by New Jersey Monthly, Inside New Jersey, Super Doctors and Castle Connolly.
