In the first place Ms. Nerwinski was not at the shop when this incident happened. Her ADULT son came to my shop with his 6 month old un-neutered Staffshire Terrier aka "pitbull" for a nail trim. While here this dog was lunging at a door which had a dog on the other side. I said, in front of 4 witnesses, his "pitbull" was commonly known as a dangerous breed, especially around children and other small animals. I warned him to not let this dog around them, as he was already diplaying agreesive behavior at only 6 months old. He told me that the term "pit bull" was only a nickname and this breed was not dangerous. Later that day I received aphone call from Ms. Nerwinski (his mother) screaming, cursing, and ranting abount what a horrible person I am. She said many other things that don't pertain to what happened and I had no choice but to hang up but to have her to continue to call back again and again. Saying things I would never say to anyone for any reason. I had simply told her adult son information I have educated myself for more than 40 years of experience with all breeds of dogs. Ms. Nerwinski stated other dog breeds were more dangerous than "pitbulls". NO there is not! A simple search on your home computer will reveal the true facts. Type dog bite statistic and you will reveal every AKC breed and how many times they have attacked, KILLED and mauled humans in the US. "Pitbulls" is number one in all catagorys; the "pitbull" number is 2,714. The next closest breed to this enormous and unexceptable number is rottwiellers which is 1,030. This number dramatically decreasses to single digits numbers to 0 for all other AKC breeds. How is this OK. "Pitbulls" murdered 104 humans and rottwielers was 58 and all other breeds is either 0 or single digit numbers. How is this acceptable. As for the slanderous statement that I am a bigot, ignorant and a redneck I will say yes I am intolerant when a 3 day old baby is ripped from his bassinet on Aug., 15 2009 in hardy co. West Virginia by the family pet (a pitbull). Not to mention the poor woman and unborn baby was killed by the fanily pet (a pitbull") in Pacifica, CA on Aug. 12th 2011 just days after I told Ms. Nerwinski's adult son the dangers of owning a dangerous breed. If being intolerante of a breed of dog that is dagerous and should never be allowed around children and small animals then if this is being a bigot then I am proud to be one. I will not accept being ignorant which would say I am uniformed and uneducated about this subject this is not the case I am not the one who is uninformed and uneducated. I would even retort being called a "redneck" now who is the bigot! In conclusion I would like to say that if I have saved one child in my lifetime from being maulded or killed by the family "pitbull" then I am OK with listening to rants from people like Ms. Nerwinski.
