Provided by YP.comSTAY AWAY!
The owner of this marina also owns Wher-Rena Marina in Cornelius and I would strongly advise you stay away from both of them.
Pat, who runs Mountain Creek Marina, is very irresponsible and unreliable and worse, dishonest. This marina has dropped boats in the past but we put our boat there because of its convenient location. Our boat is out of there now. Here are some "highlights" of our experience in the year of keeping our boat there...
1. When you call for them to drop your boat, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. 3 times in the last 2 months, we have called ahead to have the boat dropped into the water for going out in the evening (they close at 6) and all 3 times the boat has not been in the water. They just "got busy" and forgot.
2. We paid $300 to have the boat cleaned. It was not anywhere near cleaned when we picked it up. We sent it back and it came back uncleaned again.
3. We asked Pat about repairing the buttons on a cover. We said we didn't want to spend more than $40 to do it. He actually replaced the cover with a cover that did not fit our boat and gave us a $90 bill for it. When we refused to pay because a) he didn't do what we asked and b) it didn't fit our boat, he threatened to hold our boat ransom and not let us get it until we paid.
4. Ropes in our boat were taken by the marina for use on other boats.
5. Our 6 month contract ended in July, but before he "allowed" us to remove our boat the last week in July, he said we had to pay August as well.
6. We called the owner (Jeff Junker) from Wher-Rena and he was argumentative and not cooperative at all in helping us resolve the situations.
7. When describing our experience to another person who used to keep their boat there, they said they had to remove their boat from there because they went to get their boat one afternoon and found Pat (the manager of the Sherrils Ford marina) on their boat with his girlfriend hanging out and it appeared as if the boat had been out for the day. When confronted, Pat was very concerned and guilty-acting.
We are not demanding customers, and work with people cooperatively. It is reasonable to expect that when you store a boat somewhere, you can actually get to use your boat when you need to! These guys who run this are unprofessional, unethical, and unreliable. There are many other choices in Lake Norman for storage, and you couldn't pay us to go back to Mountain Creek Marina. I strognly advise staying away from this business.
