Shelby Junior High School is an educational institution that serves more than 1,200 students in grades seventh through ninth. The school provides instruction in mathematics, science, art, history, English and Spanish. Shelby Junior High School maintains a work force of more than 40 employees. The school offers various recreational opportunities, such as band, orchestra and drama. Shelby Junior High School provides several athletic activities, such as baseball, basketball, soccer, cheerleading, football and softball. The school also operates a library media center. Shelby Junior High School is recognized as a Blue Ribbon School by the Michigan Department of Education. It is a part of Utica Community Schools, which governs various elementary, middle and high schools.
