Fasse Paint Company
General Info
In 1946, after being discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps, Harvey Fasse decided to make painting his career. He began painting farm buildings during the summer and home interiors in the winter. It wasn't until 1964 however, that he and his wife Ruth opened a paint store in downtown Sheboygan Falls, which they unassumingly named, simply, Fasse Paint Company In the early 1970s the retail business had grown to the point that the paint contracting portion of the business was discontinued. As the retail business continued to grow, Harvey looked toward expansion. In 1971 the first outside sales rep was hired to expand sales in the area of industrial maintenance paint. Shortly thereafter, PPG Automotive Refinish Paint was added to service body shops and fleet refinishers in the area. In the retail store, a full-line decorating center was beginning to take shape. In 1974 Fasse Paint turned to expansion outside the Sheboygan Falls area and purchased the PPG factory outlet store in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Oshkosh store focused primarily on contractor and industrial maintenance coatings. Sales continued to grow steadily in Oshkosh, but, with double-digit growth at home, the decision was made to focus entirely on the Sheboygan Falls location. The Oshkosh store was eventually sold to the employees in 1982. During the 1980s, original equipment manufacturer ( OEM ) coatings became an outgrowth of the company's industrial maintenance business. Customers for maintenance paint increasingly requested OEM coatings for the manufacturing segment of their business. Product offerings and sales continued to grow and broaden, to include a full line of wood, metal, and plastic coatings. To further round out the line of OEM coatings, an aerosol packaging plant was built to offer a variety of coatings in aerosol form. The company's most recent new products are Fill-n-Spray, an aerosol filling system that allows paint retailers to create their own aerosol touch-up paints, and the Triclad Stain Matching System, a unique intermix system that allows wood product manufacturers to create and/or match nearly any wood color in a matter of minutes. It's the wood stain equivalent of color chips for paint, and then some. While our retail and wholesale divisions serve customers primarily in the Eastern Wisconsin area, our industrial and commercial customers span the entire United States, Canada, and portions of Europe.
