Pizza here is good although prices are a little high I think. The service can be terribly slow especially during lunch time. We have stopped going because of the sloooooow service. The dressing is the best so hard to not show up once in a while.
Their service was the worst
wow ... what a cranky old man... the old man threatened us after charging us $35 for 2 lg pizza
Okay, I have read the reviews--the good and the bad and I can't say that one person is totally right and the others are way off base. I went back to the Shawnee location after about 2 years. I have to say, that I was really surprised about the additions to the menu, and was very pleased--quite a bit has changed since I was there--and honestly comparing it to Pizza Shoppe?!?!?!?! Yes there are a few things that are similar, but they have a wider variety and better QUALITY product. It was lunch time and of course, it was fairly busy as to be expected at around 12:15, but I still had prompt service and received my food in a timely manner. I knew the waitress; she's been there forever and working quickly is her forte. What I enjoy is that I can order, eat my food in peace, and not have some annoying person standing over my shoulder ever 10 seconds asking me ""how's your meal?"" as I am taking a bite of my pasta. As she was rushing about taking orders, getting refills, and cleaning tables she was keeping close eye on everyone to see if I needed anything. I do believe that there is a difference in the day and night shifts, and that is through my own personal experience. Daytime is different because an owner is there--there may be a difference in management in the evening times. Also, in the evening you are more apt, as with ANYWHERE else, to find younger staff members, who may not have the best customer service skills in the world. Unfortunately, that's a growing trend all across the board, no matter where you go...OSP, McDonald's, and even a little bit more upscale dining establishment. GOOD HELP IS HARD TO FIND!!!! Cut the people a little slack! Overall, I was very pleased with my experience today, it's like things were just the way they were when I left...only better. I wish the Walker family continued success and hope that if there are any issues with staffing, that they get them worked out.
When my pizza was brought to me it was clearly not what I had ordered. I asked another associate (who appeared to be a manager) if this was what I had asked for, she said it was a smaller size but the server charged me for what I received (not what I had ordered). There was no apology because in their eyes, when a consumer does not receive what they have requested, I guess it's not an issue. Mistakes will happen, but absolutely NO strides were made to make things right. My (wrong) pizza was tasty, but this area offers a variety of dining options with much better customer service that would be worth the visit. I should have read the reviews first; if you're hungry for pizza and don't mind ill-treatment from employees this is the place to go! Otherwise, not worth it.
Old Style does not mean shrink-wrapped, antibiotic rodent food It Means Authentic. If you want NASA food, stop thru Quik Trip. Five Stars - Peace Out
We have been going here for several years and really like the pizza. However, they have recently changed waiters and have a crabby, middle aged waitress on Friday nights who doesn't even stop running as she goes by your table and she ask ""Do you want another beer"" - all done as she is whisking by your table. If you try to call ahead and order your pizza, the order taker says ""We are really busy, are you sure you don't want to carry out your pizza"" to which we answer, NO, we want to eat the pizza there! The pizza's are good, fresh, and usually tasty. The waitress situation though is usually untenable. They have GOT to get better help, more of it, and trained staff who actually care about the customers. Their former waiter Ben was the best but he is no longer with them. Bring back Ben! Be prepared for a wait, small booths, and surly waitresses, but the food is pretty good. 1.00 beer's on Friday night keep us going back. But for goodness sakes, get rid of the nasty middle aged waitress who growls at the customers. She is a loser!
This was my first time at Shawnee Pizza on Nieman and I will be returning. The food was very fulling a lot fixings on the pizza. The salad was wonderful as well as the cheese bread. The staff was wonderful and friendly.
Great pizza, REAL cheese.............pizza menu offers selection not found at your ordinary fast food pizza store. Try the Mediterranean for a very different pizza without the boring red sauce. The house salad dressing is very yummy. We love it, it is the only place we eat pizza.............seat yourself, great staff, family owned and it shows. The Maple Hill location is our pizza shop!
I for one have never had a bad experience at Old Shawnee Pizza in Shawnee I feel really bad that so many reviews were neg. My husband & I love to eat there & if we can't dine in we always get it to go =) Keep up the good work guys! My advice maybe try the one in Shawnee it's clean & the service is great.
You know I have been eating pizza at this particular resturant since my childern where youngins. They are grown now. This resturant use to go by another name. The night manager is the same one they have had since I first visited this resturant back in the late 80's. However, I had not visited this pizza shop in a long time. I was very unsatisified. I tried to order three different times and all I kept hearing is, ""We can't make it like that, We don't do that anymore. I wanted to order just a single pizza considering that I am on a diet and am trying to watch my portion sizes. I have always been able to do that in that past at any time of the night or day, not today. The waitress was extremly rude, then the manager came out and swore up and down they don't even have any mini pizza's available after 3:00 can't make the dough for it in the evening. So, against my better judgement I ordered a small pizza. When it came out grease was dripping off the pizza. I had to ask the waitress for a refill on my drink, the smoke in this place was horrible three employees is all tha was in the resturant and they were all sitting at the table right next to mine in the middle of the resturant chain smoking. There was no non smoking tables available. I would never take a small child in that restaurant and if you have a problem being around smoke as I do this is posiively not the place you want to go. I don't know about the location in Shawnee but I will never go to the Maple Hill location ever again. Oh and one thing I forgot to mention. They couldn't make a mini pizza for me because there was no dough, however, when I was leaving and paying my check there was a mini pizza sitting on the counter all ready cooked hmmmm. Maybe they pick and choose who they will make what for? I will never eat there again.
Old Shawnee Pizza may have a good tasting pizza for a decent, not great, but decent price, but lets take a minute to overview what really goes on from one customers perspective. When dining into a restraunt or any place that serves food, you expect good food right? You may get that, but when I saw all the pizza makers and what may have been a salad maker preparing food without gloves, that is disgusting. Firsthand, I witnessed one of the pizza makers sneezing into there hand, then continues to make the pizza. I don't know about anybody else, but I personally find that absolutely disgusting. Did I mention that this is most likely against some form of health regulations? I believe that if your going to dine into a restraunt, hygiene should at least be kept sanitary. While writing this, I also remember the waitress being quite rude to me over small things, such as asking for a refill. You may have read the previous reviews and thought, 'Hey! This place sounds like a good place to eat,' well, take in the count that they do not prepare food using gloves, the rude customer service, and all of those things, I hope you too realize that this place is unsanitary and should be looked at by a health administrator immediately.
The food is great, but that is only if they remember to make it. My son and I decided to eat there for the first time in a year. I expected them to be busy during lunch, but that is no excuse for the awful service. I had a few min. wait for a non-smoking table to open up- no big deal, but the waitress didn't offer to bring us a highchair. I had to hold my son in one arm and try to pull the highchair out of a corner surrounded by other dinners. We make it back to the table and the waitress promptly takes our order and brings my drink and salad right away. So now, I'm waiting for my mimi pizza and another waitress comes over and starts busting our table and started grabbing our food before I could stop her. We wait and wait and then find out that the kitchen forgot to make our pizza. 50 min. passes from the time we arrive at the pizza shop to the time we are finally served our mimi pizza. I don't expect it to be fast food, but that is a long time! The pizza shop is way to understaffed and disorganized. I rated it Below Average only because of the very disappointing service, but the pizza is good. You can always eat at one of the many Pizza Shoppes around town- the service is much better, restraunt is larger and the pizza and lunch specials are almost identical (but that would be because Old Shawnee Pizza used to be a Pizza Shoppe).
The service and food are great. And you can't believe how much food you can get for the price. I've grown up going to this restaurant even when it was named differently. Even though I don't live in Shawnee any longer, I still drive to eat there.
this is the best place ever to go and eat. its a must have when you want to go by yourself or even with the family.
For the price you get HUGE amounts of toppings. The crust is fairly thin and crispy. Sassy sauce and the BEST salad dressing ever.
