General Info
Harold and Lois Vaille had always been known for their patriotism so when friends in St. Louis suggested they get into the flag business they decided to give it a try. The US flag had always had a place atop the pole in their front yard and the couple still believes to this day that everyone should display one. Shortly after moving to Shawnee from Merriam in 1987, Flagsource Unlimited (“Flagsource”) was started on a shoestring budget. The flag company began as a sideline income for the Vailles who at the time ran a townhouse renovation service company. Word got out soon about the friendly couple and the great customer service that Flagsource Unlimited provided. The business grew enough for Harold and Lois to give up the renovation company and dedicate full time to supplying not only flags, banners, poles and rope but exemplifying the true meaning of service. “Word of Mouth was always the best advertising”, stated Lois in an interview with the Shawnee Sun in 2007. Lois used to sit at the sewing machine and do repairs for their customers but like an old flag sometimes you just have to give it up. Over the years the Vailles have solved many customers’ problems with regard to hanging flags and the type of equipment to use. Harold used to get up in his bucket truck to hang flags for many of the commercial accounts even after he became a senior citizen, it was the fun part of his job, but that part of the business is now contracted out. Harold and Lois are looking forward to retiring and passing their knowledge on to their eldest son Mike as he prepares to take over with the same friendly, courteous service that has been the foundation of the company since inception over 20 years ago. All of Flagsource's US, Foreign, State, Armed Forces, Religious, and Marine flags are made in America. The Vailles have always been proud to take down old tattered flags and replace them with good quality new ones. “As Americans, we should all display our flags in the best condition possible” says Lois.
