This day-tour of the town dubbed "the Gateway to Alaska" is the perfect way to get acquainted without getting lost in the woods! Seward is a small mountain community sitting on Resurrection Bay with plenty of history to tell and sites to see. You'll become acquainted with much of this during the first part of your day, as you tour the town with a local guide. Highlights include a visit to "Mile 0" of the famous Iditarod Trail, and time spent observing the lingering aftermath of a massive earthquake that rocked the community in 1964. You'll also make a trip to the stunning Kenai Fjords National Park. There, you'll hike backwoods trails to the face of Exit Glacier, where you might spot mountain goats, moose, or bear roaming the mountainside. After your hike, you'll fuel up with a meal at the Resurrection Roadhouse, before heading to the Seavey homestead, where you'll get acquainted with a pack of Alaskan huskies... and spend the next 90 minutes sledding through the snow with them! You can try running the dogs yourself, or just sit back and enjoy the ride .. in case you don't want to take it ruff!

Then you'll take to the sky with a dazzling 15-minute helicopter ride that will fly you away from Girdwood Airport, and plop you atop the Punchbowl Glacier! There, you'll be introduced to your musher and the team of Alaskan Huskies that will take you out, at which time you'll learn a little about dog sledding, and the fascinating lives of all involved.
