- Contemplative at 8:00 a.m. - A 45 minute early morning service with time for meditation and prayer. This service always includes the Eucharist (Lord's Supper) Traditional at 9:30 a.m. - Biblical, inspiring, and relevant to today's life, often includes special music. Contemporary at 11:00 a.m. - This lively, family-friendly service features our worship band leading us in contemporary-style songs of praise. The Cribbery is open during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services and for many other special services. The Joyful Noise Room at the back of the sanctuary provides a space where little children can sing and wiggle and parents can worship without undue concern. Coffee, tea, lemonade and bagels are served in the Fellowship Hall between each service...join us! Holy Communion is celebrated each Sunday at the 8:00 a.m. service and often throughout the year at the other services, normally on the first Sunday of each season of the Church year, and on certain other special days. In the Presbyterian Church the Sacrament of Communion is open to all who claim Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. You do not need to be a member of this church to participate. Parents are encouraged to include their baptized children. Baptism is a high moment in Christian life, one which we regard with both seriousness and joy. Presbyterians recognize baptisms performed in other Christian denominations as valid.
General Info
By the transforming power of Christ, Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church seeks to be: * A Center for Celebrating the Journey of Life in the Spirit * A Community of Nurture and Challenge * A Growing Family of Faith * A Light to the Community and a Servant to Our Neighbors Near and Far This Vision Statement has several clear emphases: We seek to grow, not just rest content with the status quo and ourselves. Appropriately, the growth that we desire is both numerical and spiritual. We seek a balance between nurture and challenge. If it's true that we are saved by grace, not works; it is also true that we are saved by grace for good works. Challenge is as much a part of the gospel as nurture and comfort. We seek to be a place that celebrates the entire journey of faith, a journey in which all of us are at one time a child, a youth. We seek to be a light to our community and a servant to our neighbors. In other words, we seek to be a church which knows that God has called the church not for itself, but on behalf of the whole world, and which acts accordingly. We consider worship to be the single most important event of each week for the Church. Consequently, we make every effort to provide worship which is inspiring, Biblical, and relevant to the challenges of everyday life. Additional worship opportunities are scheduled on Christian holidays throughout the year.
