Horrid business, they literally stole our belongings, many were lost, misfiled, simply disappeared with numerous excuses and no recorded sales. we simply received unspecified checks with no detailed explanations at all and noticed as time went on that many items were unaccounted for, we would have fared better at a garage sale. how they stay in business is beyond me, terrible experience that we will never repeat.

DISHONEST MERCHANTS!

CHARLATANS! I bought a supposed "one of a kind" piece of furniture from these crooks, a few weeks later I found the same "one of a kind" piece of furniture at a discount furniture warehouse that imports goods from India! When I brought this gross misrepresentation to the attention of the Manager at Pacific Antique Gallery, (Doug) he offered no resolution at all! UNBELIEVABLE! I have disputed this purchase on my credit card, if you have a problem with them I suggest you do the same because you will never get any satisfaction from Pacific Antique Mall any other way! BUYER BEWARE!

When my aunt passed, it was a difficult time for all of us but my family agreed to sell some of her treasures so we could make a donation to her favorite charity since it hadn't made it into her will. After a few bad experiences, we finally found Pacific Galleries and I'm so glad we did. They made the process really simple for us, kept us informed all the way through and made some suggestions for combining lots and getting a couple of the pieces cleaned if we wanted them to look their best. We never felt pressured or rushed and it was actually a really fun experience for us to come together and do this for my aunt. Since people don't talk about good experiences as much as bad ones, we just wanted to thank the staff for being so friendly and treating us so well. Thank you!

Awesome experience. Got much more for my Arts & Crafts pottery than I expected. The auctions are fun to attend as well. The main auctioneer, Mike I believe, is jovial and entertaining to watch. Highly recommend!

Horrid Place!

The staff is totally clueless, rude, mean, stupid and incompetent. Mike, the "manager" is a rude clueless arrogant individual who had the nerve to actually tell me off for correcting him on the description of one of my items. I even had papers to prove the authenticity but he in his arrogance decided that he was right and the papers were wrong! I could clearly see after dealing with him why there have been so many complaints and as a result decided not to sell my items through this place. Their loss my gain. There are other more legitimate places in Seattle that have people with real knowledge working there and who are helpful as I have found. I ended up getting twice what Pacific Galleries told me I would get somewhere else. I would never buy or sell anything here unless you want to lose money. Shame on Pacific Galleries for being the worst auction house around.

SELLER BEWARE......

This place is a joke. With the rudest staff in Seattle and COMPLETE incompetence in their reviews of items. I have a 7 ft one of a kind totem pole valued at $7,000...without even seeing it in person one of their "people" named Celine decided it was only worth $800,....Hmmm funny because it's insured for $5,000 loss . OBVIOUSLY this threw a GIANT red flag for me and decided I was NOT willing to take a risk with this auction house....good luck to those who do, but don't expect them to get you what your items are really worth!

This is a great place to explore!

I came to Pacific Galleries because my son collects marbles & We've had luck at antiques shops finding cool ones. In addition to a couple of swirlies, I also found a beautiful japanese laquered box which made a great anniversary present.Nice job!

I had a very bad experience here. The auction house lost many of our items, mislabeled all of them so that I received far less than quoted by the auction house beforehand, the help is rude and clueless and not helpful at all, it took months to receive any checks and two of them were lost due to the office using the wrong address. We regret every using this auction house. Awful.

Unethical and Dishonest Business

I had several items auctioned off here only to received so little for them it was laughable. My items were several large pieces of furniture from Europe that were priced by the auction house initially at a fair price comparable to what I paid for them. What I ended up with is not even the pick up fee for them which was astronomical. Not only do they not have a starting bid at their auctions, but they do not put any effort into using multiple venues like Ebay and online resources like live aucitoneers to further advertise the items to get better bids which they said they would do. The contract even stated what they would use other resources and list the item at a certain price and use a starting bid yet and co-ordinate all of their actions with me but they never did any of this. Considering what I ended up with I would have gotten a better price had I held a garage sale.

Also the items were mislabeled putting me at a further disadvantage. When I tried to correct that manager he became indignant and told me to mind my own business. The staff was either rude beyond belief or completely clueless and always disorganized, I could never get a straight answer as there was only this one person that I was continuously referred to that was always unavailable or out of the country, On top of all this, I had to pay a hefty moving fee, the movers were late and had to be rescheduled twice. And to add insult to injury they somehow "lost" several other smaller valuable pieces which so far have still not been found. It was also like pulling teeth to get any information on my compensation or when checks would be sent and and they labeled sold items as "miscellaneous" on the receipts probably to confuse me so I wouldn't know what was being sold and when. I found out later that they have a warehouse in another state where they "store" auction items from Seattle which was another red flag for me. I remember one of the employees once saying off the cuff that the rest of my items were in storage just before another employee grabbed the phone and told me that they sold everything and rudely hung up on me. Among so many other questions I had to wonder why they would store auction items in another state that are being sold in Seattle. Words cannot begin to describe what an abysmal experience I had with Pacific Galleries. It was especially heartbreaking for me as I was forced to sell due to financial issues and really needed the money badly, a fact which I feel they took full advantage of. Really awful.

Bad Management and Dishonest Auction House

I gave Pacific Galleries numerous items to auction off for an estate sale. Even though I provided a detailed list for them and photos they somehow never managed to coincide the item with the descriptions and labeled them instead in a manner so that I had no idea what any of the commissions were for. I received checks with "miscellaneous" written on them and other vague and incomprehensible descriptions leaving me to guess just what they were for. When I called on several occasions to try and understand what items the amounts were for, the manager became rude and indignant and began insulting me and calling me names. He stated that all the auction items were gone even though at least two other staff members told me that there were several outstanding items left and one even said they were being stored in a warehouse. Why would an auction house store items that were supposed to be auctioned off in a warehouse and where was this warehouse???? I received so many stories and versions from the employees of what was going on that I have to suspect that either the company is so disorganized it does not have any accurate records at all, that our items were misplaced or that they were intentionally confiscated for personal use or future sales. I am seeking legal action against this company for their misrepresentation of services, reckless business practices, verbal abuse and misappropriation of funds.

Disorganized and Dishonest

Be careful what you buy here, they lie about their items and the staff is rude, disorganized and doesn't seem to know anything. I bought a cabinet here and it turned out to be a reproduction when the label clearly said it was an antique. I found out when I got it appraised after some of the wood color came off during delivery and I became suspicious. Boy was I glad I did! . I called and told the secretary what happened but no one called me back. I finally talked to Mike McDonnel who was one of the managers and he was rude beyond description! He actually had the nerve to tell me that it was my fault for making such a bad choice!!!! He also said that only he knew how to label anything (really?) and that the rest of the staff was incompetent. If i worked there I would sue this guy. My credit card ended up ruling in my favor and issued a refund to me. Horrible place and especially horrible management.

a let down

What feels like a never ending labyrinth to discover. Which is great. Not so great are the illegible descriptive tags in the curio cabinets that are more common than being able to easily find out what a given item is or the asking price. Sonya's comment from April observing an arrogant staff is definitely true and still abundantly clear several months later. I'm looking forward to searching out better reviewed shops and wish I'd read some of these first.

A story of lost sales

Interesting shop. Some very worthwhile antiques amid the more casual bric-a-brac. Cluttered endless nooks will keep your interest for hours; in this respect it's a worthwhile experience. That is, unfortunately, the only good qualities to be found.Quality customer service is integral to strong sales. The employees I observed make it clear they've judged how thick a client's wallet is within 10 seconds of their entrance and behave accordingly. It is quite obvious they have little interest in helping the casual shopper. I would recommend a recurrent training to existing employees that focuses on the classic sales process and how judging clientele before determining their needs will always hurt a commission check. Extremely disappointed to say the least.Check out Antika. Much better overall experience and a true delight to discover.

Dishonest Business!

These people will steal your stuff! I had several items picked up for auction and was told they would be auctioned off within 3 months. A few of the items did not make it to auction as they decided to put them on the retail floor instead. After 6 months I finally asked what had happened to the retail items and to my horror I was told that the items were gone because they don't keep items for over 6 months which is not what their contract says. When I demanded to know why I wasn't contacted or compensated for any of it, I was simply told that the "house" keeps what they don't sell! The contract clearly says that it should be a year. Keep in mind that during that 6 month period I kept in contact with the procurer so he had ample opportunity to notify me of the situation. I had several small items and a very expensive ring go to the house without receiving compensation or being given the opportunity to purchase them back. It was like I just gave it away to them!. I would have been better

Never seen the like

The BEST collection of items, the savviest and hippest dealers I have ever seen in a co-operative retail space. Honestly. I have slogged through MANY a commemorative plate and figurine style antique mall (and sold things in a few) and I have never seen a place where more stylish design-minded folk have gathered to sell their wares. It seems that everyone that had shops on Capitol Hill in Seattle are now happily ensconced here. I have seen many old friends- and most of the decor from the hippest clubs seem to have been purchased here. I am never surprised to enter a newly opened place on the hill and see things there that I considered buying at Pacific Galleries.

Not the best place

The merchandise is very mixed and it's hard to tell what is really antique and what isn't. The store is large and there is lots of merchandise but again it's very mixed up and disorganized. I purchased two tables here but found out later that they were not even made out of real wood but rather molded plywood which makes them much less valuable than what I paid for them. The sticker clearly indicated is was made out of solid wood. When I tried to return the items I was told all sales are final by the clerk. Bad policies and bad labeling. I am out the 350.00 I spent here and will never return.

Watch It Here!

Lots of stuff but who really knows what it is or where it came from. The amount of mislabeled stuff is staggering and you can be taken in very easily. Also the help seem disorganized and arrogant to be blunt. I waited for 30 minutes while the lady kept me waiting rambling on with a customer about her hobbies and then she had the nerve to give me a nasty look when I politely said something. I thought she would never stop talking and I was a paying customer. Service and accuracy are obviously not what this place is about. There are much better auction houses in just about every other city. Sorry but this place left me cold.
