- Pediatric CareDr. Basila felt the calling to work with his own patients more continually as they grow and develop and left academics to work in General Pediatrics. He moved to Scottsboro, AL in 2018 and began working in the community and at Highlands Medical Center as a general pediatrician. He joined Highlands directly with Dr. Freeman in 2023 and opened Highlands Pediatrics with the intent to help further develop and support the children of Northeast Alabama and develop more services for children in the growing community.
- Primary CareRaised outside of Birmingham, Dr. Chelsea Clark grew up wanting to be a teacher like her grandmother and sister. While her parents still reside in Jefferson county, her sister lives in Northeast Alabama, and her brother is obtaining his masters at her own alma mater, Auburn University. After completing her biomedical sciences major and sustainability minor at Auburn University, Dr. Clark was accepted to UAB Heersink School of Medicine, where she completed her clinical rotations at UAB's regional campus in Huntsville. In medical school, Dr. Clark served as the Family Medicine Interest Group president and was awarded the Blue Cross Blue Shield Primary Care Scholarship. Once moved to Huntsville, she fell in love with the Tennessee Valley, its diverse populations, and the family medicine program at UAB Huntsville Regional Medical Campus, and so stayed to complete her residency. She is thrilled to be joining Highlands Medical Center and the Scottsboro community. Although she went into the medical field, education is a passion that she continues to support and incorporate into her practice; it is important to her that each patient understands his or her disease process and can make educated decisions about his or her healthcare. Describing herself as an "old lady" at heart, Dr. Clark enjoys caring for her 30 houseplants, reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family, particularly her two nephews.

He also provided sedation services for children undergoing procedures as well as working at a long term care facility for children with complex medical needs. - Nuclear MedicineNuclear medicine scans use a radioactive substance to see structures and functions inside your body. It is the opposite of an x-ray, in that a small amount of radioactive drug is injected and collects in the body area to be studied. A gamma camera is then used to image the area, and a computer processes the information. Nuclear medicine scans help doctors detect tumors, fractures, and issues in the gall bladder, thyroid, lungs, kidneys, liver, heart, bones, and more.
- Mammography
- Computed TomographyLung cancer kills more men and women than any other type of cancer. Screening can detect cancer before symptoms develop and the disease spreads. A lung cancer screen is a painless low dose CT scan which scans the body and uses low doses of radiation to take pictures of the lungs. The scan only takes 5 minutes and is recommended for people who are at high risk for lung cancer. Highlands Medical Center has teamed up with Clear View Cancer Institute to help you get this valuable, early-detection screening, provide follow-up services, and more.
