Sunavo Dasgupta, MD, is a Fellowship Trained interventional Pain Physician and Double Board Certified Anesthesiologist. He serves as co-director of the MacNeal Hospital Pain Clinic. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and completed his anesthesia residency at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the top anesthesia programs in the country. He then went on to successfully complete his interventional pain fellowship at the University of Michigan, one of the top fellowship programs in the country. He has presented abstracts at the American Society of Regional Anesthesiologists conference, the largest and most prestigious conference for pain physicians. He has been invited to lecture at multiple grand rounds on topics ranging from novel intubation techniques to peripheral nerve catheter use in the treatment of CRPS. His research has focused on the use of peripheral field stimulation in the treatment of occipital neuralgia. Most recently he was published in the distinguished medical journal Anesthesia and Analgesia for his work in helping to improve patient pain control in thepost operative period. Dr. Dasgupta is a firm believer in the multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of pain. He believes that the treatment of pain is not always accomplished with a needle or scalpel. There are many facets to each patient’s pain that must all be addressed. Every patient is different and Dr. Dasgupta treats each patient as an individual, helping them to lead more productive, functional, and enjoyable lives. Dr. Dasgupta is expertly trained in the treatment of both acute and chronic pain. His clinical interests include: spinalcord stimulation headache/ cervicalgia treatment, CRPS, and peripheral field stimulation.

Overall, the experience has been excellent. Rachel has been attentive and willing to take time to listen to my concerns and descriptions of what I've been experiencing. I have met with dozens of medical professionals throughout my process of treatment. I left the RIC because of their lack of interest in trying alternative treatments and what I felt was a lack of interest in keeping abreast of new developments in treating pain patients with my injury. Dr. Dasgupta has been a revelation, his knowledge, willingness to try different treatments until we found ones that worked, and most importantly his taking the time to read my file, look at my imaging and truly understand what the issues are and what can best be done to treat them is something I have been missing in my treatment to date. I greatly appreciate his efforts and in 15 years of this, he has provided the first real non-narcotic relief I have had. This appointment we spent time going over the plan, what has worked and what hasn't and he spent a lot of time explaining things and answering questions. I greatly appreciate PPS, Dr. Dasgupta and the rest of the personable, professional and kind staff.
