THEY KILLED MY KITTEN

I'm not sure who to contact so I am writing to you. I was taking care of a tiny kitten named Waddles. Christmas Eve, she became very ill and the only Vet open was Creature Comforts in Saylorsburg. Against my will, I called them to get her in, I have had very bad experiences with them in the past. They saw her and treated her for Roundworms and gave her fluids due to dehydration. We came home at 2:45 p.m. and she seemed fine. At 5:00, she became very lethargic and could not walk or breathe. I called them to rush her in, but they wanted $120.00 upfront or they would not see her. I already paid them $100.00 when we were there. I told them whatever you did today to her is killing her and she needs immediate medical attention now. They still would not see her unless I paid. I am on a very fixed income and could not afford the $120.00 besides, she was just there a few hours ago.

My friend called and told them she was dying, they told him too we need the money or she gets no help. They hung up on him, then I called my neighbor and told her. She called and they hung up on her too, she called back and yelled at them for hanging up on her during an extreme emergency. What is more important, money or a life? Poor Waddles died that night at 8:05 p.m. due to their unethical business policy and I have been heartbroken and very upset. She suffered terribly and we could not take her far, she wouldn't have made it.

If you cannot help in this matter, please pass this on to an agency that can. Hopefully, we can spare someone else from a terrible tragedy with their pet as we had to endure. No Vet should turn down an animal for help when they are sick or dying. They really need to change their policy.

Thank you,

Susan Rumfield

My cat had urinary crystals & I brought him to CC for a CBC, abdomen X-ray, & urinalysis. During his 12-hr stay, I called CC twice for a progress report. The first call (approx. 6 hrs following admission) was positive in that he had been examined & would later be going home with an antibiotic. But the second call (approx. 11 hrs after admission) was disturbing because they had no record of his prescription & the attending doctor & technician had left for the day. Following that call I drove to CC & was shocked to learn that NONE of the tests had been done. I took my cat home. I left 3 messages for the office manager to call me to discuss this incident. My calls were not returned so I paid her a personal visit, at which time she told me they were having phone problems. I was told the tests were not done for several reasons: there were a lot of emergencies that day; they had to hydrate my cat before even a CBC could be done, & I "pulled" my cat out of the clinic before they had a chance to do the tests (this, in spite of my cat having been there for 12 hrs). They stood their ground to bill me for an office visit, 1/2 day of boarding, and 250 ml of fluid. And I was chided for raising my voice & being too emotional. Ultimately I took my cat to the Barton Heights Hospital where he was admitted for 2 days/nights, & was cared for by a professional staff.

Railroaded into Euthenasia

Dr. Jon promised deliver intense therapeutic treatment Prognosis not 100% guaranteed but was chance. Dr Jon said "She is not in pain. She is just weak next? Without offering application CareCredit nurse Theresa, when asked Can't you give payment plan? advised me they could only expand the fee for 90 day-not sure no total how to convince them would pay bill no matter what? They decided to deny treatment they had promised.Theresa sharply asked me: "Do you want her cremated?" That was cue for Dr Jon to prepare to euthanize my dog. He left room. I told Theresa, "I think I better just take her home". Theresa told me I would have to sign release that I was doing so against their recommendation. So..Why did they not want me to leave? Were they afraid I'd go somewhere else? This their compassion and care
Better have credit card or your pet DIES
does denial of service equal euthanasia?
strongly advise anyone avoid this animal clinic like plague.

Dr. Karin and the staff at Creature Comforts are wonderful. This is still a small town type vet practice that gives personal service to their furry patients and their families. Our dog contracted Lyme Disease and we thought we would lose her. Not only did we not, but she came back to being the same healthy "Noodle" she was before she was sick. Then she slipped a disc in her back and was paralyzed! My first thought was that this would be the end. Dr. Karin said that we wouldn't give up on our girl and not only does she walk now, she chases her kitty sister and brothers around the house! The staff was very supportive through all we've been through and Dr. Karin was the best. Through it all she kept telling us we couldn't give up and she was right. The office may be small but the service is personal and I have spent a lot of time there and never saw any animals "running wild" around the building. It is also clean, the rooms are wiped down after every patient, and the holding areas for the animals are kept very clean. I would recommend Creature Comforts and Dr. Karin to anyone! The best vet I have ever dealt with and I have had animals my entire life. Thank you Dr. Karin for all you have done and do every day!

I am writing this review solely because I want to prevent another disaster and animal suffering or death caused by their inability to follow procedures and keep sanitary conditions for their patients. this place should be shut down and severely fined and all employees (not just the vets) should loose their license or ability to work with or near animal. As a medical professional of any level you have the responsibility to report unsanitary conditions especially if you well know that these practices have lead and continue leading animal to suffering and death, my dog contracted a severely resistant to antibiotics strain of e-coli post her surgeries there. She was released home with swollen legs and bleeding wounds which started to open up the next day to the point that I was seeing the metal plates they have implanted as well as her tendons (I am not exaggerating here being a medical assistant I am quite accustomed with wound care)!!! I found my dog in unsanitary conditions post double ACL surgery, and took her home as I knew I was more capable of caring for her than any of them! My dog was not even wearing an e-collar and was left to lick her wounds post-op!

They are incompetent, uncaring and most of all negligent and this needs to be stopped!!!

My dog has since been cared for at another facility and has undergone multiple surgeries and treatments and is still on antibiotics that I administer in form of injections 3 times a day. Its been over three months post surgery and she is not 100% and most likely will never be but at least she is still with us.

I am calling everyone to action. Lets put a final stop to their un-humane practices!!!

Please feel free to contact me via email: isia27@gmail.com

Lets get together and do something about this!!!

Beware!! My son took my dog there after getting hit by a car because they offered a payment plan. Bad move! After surgery that required a pin in his leg, he returned home and was followed up with my regular vet. For over 4 months he had a persistent infection in his leg that would not heal no matter how many antibiotics were given. Finally had to resort to amputation, where SURPRISE!, my vet found several sponges in his leg that had been left there by the Dr. at Creature Comforts. It was unfortunately too far along in the surgery to save his leg, so the amputation had to be continued. Dr. Karin refused to speak to me or my associate about the situation, and seems to want to put the blame on me. I am now seeking the full amount of money (over $4000) that it cost me due to their extreme negligence!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL THERE!!!!

LOVE this place!!!! Been goin...

LOVE this place!!!! Been going here since 1999, I have 8 pets and a friend who used to take care of a large feral colony had been taking their cats here for many years as well. Never a complaint. Dr. Karin is literally a genius, she's the owner and I don't think there isn't anything she doesn't know. Dr. Dan is also wonderful. This hospital has saved the life of 2 of my cats from illness, when they were inches from death. We've had surgeries here, teeth cleanings, check ups, and bloodwork done. They are VERY busy so sometimes follow up and clarification is necessary, being an informed pet owner and doing your own research helps a lot. Ask questions. Dr. Karin has done a lot of expansion and improvements, and she has a lot of cutting edge technology there, whereas with other vets you have to go to a specialist or wait for results. Dr. Karin is involved with every case that is serious. I would highly recommend Creature Comforts to everybody with pets.

Stay away. Brought both our dogs in to get their nails clipped. Now they have kennel cough, which the Dr. admitted that they contracted there. Then, tech gave wrong instructions for the meds and now we have other issues. Also, because the medical records were not in order they misdiagnosed the problem. Called and spoke to the rep and was told they would get back to us. Never did. Finally, had to keep calling the rep to get an answer. Did some research and am finding a ton of complaints including animals dying.

Do not be fooled by Creature C...

Do not be fooled by Creature Comforts low prices and promises of healing. Do NOT bring your animals here. We brought our very sick ferret there in the middle of the night. They may be open 24 hrs., but they are only staffed by vet techs who are terrified to call one of the actual Vets for assistance. The Vet techs were nice, but not very knowledgeable. They accidentally cut my ferret with a needle and seemed unsure of what to do. They kept him overnight and that's when things got worse.

There is more than one Vet working at CC, but Dr. Karin-Susan Breitlauch is the owner. Even though my ferret was at the hospital there, I was only contacted by their pet liaison who could not answer my questions. Every time that the liaison called, she had a new disease that my ferret supposedly had. They wanted to open him up to do exploratory surgery without me ever even being able to speak to the Vet on the phone. Then, they insisted that he needed Adrenal surgery. Only when I refused to have the surgery did Dr. Breitlauch call me; at 11 pm at night (on a weeknight). She proceeded to berate me and tell me that I was taking my ferret from CC against medical advice. She was domineering and demeaning. Our regular vet left multiple messages over multiple days with CC staff, but NO ONE ever called her back.

When I picked up the ferret the next day, he was in bad shape- exhausted & dirty. He is now being treated by the expert and thorough care of Dr. Anna Edling at Horsham Animal Hospital and is doing well. In an emergency, don't take your animals to Creature Comforts!

My savoir!

After getting turned away by two other vets in my area, i finally made it to creature comforts. my poor cat, who had been hit by a car, was bleeding, and had a broken tail. The staff had him x-rayed, and on the table in less than an hour. great emergency vet, staff can be a bit gruff, but they do their jobs well. my now tailless cat is due home tomorrow, and i have creature comforts to thank. they can all wear their shining armor, and keep doing an excellent job.

Creature Comforts Veterinary Service was founded in 1986. The name was registered in June, 1986. The name was created during a particularly long and boring pharmacology class in 1984, when creature comforts were not a priority for students! It is a “service” because it has always been the intention to offer more than just a hospital.
