Founded in 1999, Southwest Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through grade five. The school provides instruction in special education, art and music. The school maintians a medica center that stocks books and videos. Southwest Elementary School has a parent-teacher association that organizes meetings. The school also provides educaitonal programs for gofted and talented children. Southwest Elementary School offers a variety of food options for lunch. It addiitonally maintians a scool council, as well as oranzines conferences. The school is a part of Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools, which governs several elementary, middle and high schools. Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools operates maintenance and payroll departmnts.
