Sarasota Lutheran School is a learning institution that emphasizes education in Christian values and beliefs. Formerly known as Concordia Lutheran School, it was established in 1982. The institution focuses on the spiritual, emotional, social, physical and intellectual development of students. Sarasota Lutheran School enrolls children in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. It features early childhood programs for two- and three-year old children. The institution also offers a before- and after-school care program, as well as features a summer camp called Camp Summer Rays. Sarasota Lutheran School conducts classes in various subjects, such as language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. It provides instruction in computer applications, foreign languages, physical education, and arts and crafts. The institution employs a staff of more than 20 teachers and paraprofessionals, including a Spanish specialist, secretary and principal. In addition, Sarasota Lutheran School has a parent-teacher organization that supports several fundraising activities and events. It is located in Sarasota, Fla., and additionally publishes newsletters and organizes field trips.
