The School Board of Sarasota County is a part of Sarasota County Schools. It is comprised of more than five members, including a chairman and vice chairman. The organization conducts a variety of meetings to approve, disapprove and implement policies, procedures and regulations. The School Board of Sarasota County also organizes workshops, as well as features an online section that provides information regarding various school board regulations. It lays down policies and procedures regarding several issues, such as discrimination, emergency situations, sick leaves, student admissions, and parent and family involvement. In addition, the organization sets regulations for issues concerning physical examinations, use of facilities, advertising in schools and relations with governmental authorities.
