Provided by YP.comWe tried the new Chinese restaurant here in Rincon Valley last night; China Legend. This delightful restaurant uses only Free Range Chicken from Petaluma Poultry Processors with no hormones or antibiotics. They use filtered water, Sea Salt, and 100% Vegetable Oil in their food preparation. Although we opted for Take Out, next time we'll stay. The atmosphere was pleasant, with a color scheme of deep red and creme, rather than the ubiquitous black with tigers and pagodas everywhere. The hostess offered us water while we waited for our order, and the aromas wafting from the kitchen surely did whet our appetites!
The menu offers Szechuan, Hunan, Mongolian, and Thai dishes and is quite extensive. The "Family Dinner B for Two" came to $34.70 including tax and came with Hot and Sour soup that was rich and flavorful, with attention to the size of the tofu, eggs, and veggies so that you never got a mouthful of just one thing; Fried Prawns that were white, tender and fluffy, (I loved the batter, though my husband found it a bit too thick; Barbecued Pork that was NOT a day-glow red; Sweet and Sour Chicken with nice chunks of pineapple, onion, carrot and bell pepper in a sauce that was neither too thick or too thin (same comments about the batter); Mongolian Beef that was soooo thin and tender that it practically melted in your mouth; and Barbecued Pork Fried Rice that was as beautiful to look at as it was pleasing to the palate.
All this was packaged in flat plastic containers (Yay for nothing spilling on the way home for once!) rather than the cartons that so many places feel compelled to use, even though they are less than optimal for travel or storage.
We feasted in the comfort of our home, and have enough for another meal today. With that in mind, the cost breaks down to $8.68 per meal per person. Not too bad in today's economy.
