This studio is not a good place for kids. Master Chang had my son in his class for approximately 9 months. During this time, I witnessed Master Chang forcing the children to stretch to the point of tears. He would tell the boys to sit with their legs spread apart and then sit identically facing them, using his legs to force theirs open as wide as possible. Little boys (ages 4-6) would break down in tears and walk away holding their groins. The other boys, including Chang's own sons, would call these children "crybabies." Master Chang also called the boys "girls" when he felt they were not performing adequately. Finally, Chang would often hit the children with his foam paddles, somtimes having them bend over and touch their toes followed by his walking down the line of boys, spanking them. In general, Chang runs a very aggressive, inappropriate studio. My ex-husband was enamored of Chang, thus I had to go to court to get my son out of his studio. Fortunately, I succeeded.
Excellent martial arts school! My son and I have been going here for 2 years and we are very happy. We have tried out other schools before. Master Chang is Korean and his two young sons and his wife join the classes as students, too. The school is a member of the World Taekwondo Federation with headquarters in Korea. All black belts get registered in Korea and receive a cerficate/ID card. Kids classes are every day on weekdays at 4 or 5pm and adults and teenagers come at 6.30pm. Very friendly atmosphere with emphasis on sports, fitness, self defense, self-discipline, strength and endurance, forms, character values, and Korean traditions.
